Highly unlikely (and at Christmas?!) - another one would just start.

Avenger is a popular synth whose development is rapid and is ongoing, we already know a v2 is in the works. We also know there will be more changes to how the CP works in practice in the coming month or two. So discusssion will go on. Yes, its desperately tedious at the moment with some folks raking over the same stuff with no real prospect of that debate having any effect, but that's how it goes.

The way to please everyone is to stick to the deal they offered by NOT changing copy protection after people have made their purchases in specific reliance on their statement that protection was provided by a keyfile system.

I understand that they keyfile was broken and that Avenger was afflicted by piracy. It absolutely sucks for them.

But Vengeance are not naive new developers. They used eLicenser for years on other products, presumably for the security it offered. Then they chose to switch away from that, in part, no doubt, to increase market share beyond those who were willing to put up with eLicenser. As experienced developers, they knew the risks of using a keyfile system - presumably it's why they used eLicenser for their earlier products. As experienced developers, they knew it might be cracked. If they wanted the security of CodeMeter for Avenger, they could have used it from the start, and then customers would have known what they were getting into before giving Vengeance their money.




Note that I absolutely do not think that this was all an intentional dastardly "scheme." I 100% believe they thought their keyfile system would be impenetrable, and went into this with the best of intentions. But having taken that gamble and lost, why should the honest consumer suffer?

And just to be clear: as soon as people stop calling out those of us who are upset, I'll stop posting why I'm so upset. But every time someone posts about how poor, innocent Vengeance had no choice, I will explain once again that, as experienced developers who chose to move away from eLicenser-style systems to a keyfile and advertised that as a selling point, my sympathy for Vengeance for having to live with the natural consequences of their own considered decisions is decidedly limited.

Avenger vps isnt showing up after install in cubase 10.5.5. Installed on different drive. rescanned. Doesnt show up. Is this a known problem?

NVM --> Assembled a new system so had to install everything from scratch. Installed codemeter. Everything working. Thanks.

Yeah, it's not the direction developers should be going in. You let one developer do it, what is to stop more and more from doing it. Where else can the users and paying customers come together to discuss these things. This is basically it.

I would wager the vast majority of the people who buy the product and don't care about the CodeMeter stuff have no idea what it is. I wouldn't have known either, until it said it would modify my firewall. What the.... This is a VST, not a multi million dollar triple A game on Steam. Where does it end when you continue to add DRM failure and exploitable points to simple software.

It is really an unprofessional approach the whole process. It was announced that 1.5 gets delayed then told why because avenger got cracked. Then they checked asap for a new cp and dont forget some here suggested codemeter. Then vps announced they will check it out and implement it. Or am i missing something?

What really is bad is that they dont clarify this on their store page, clarified before what options are available, usb, software, what happens if your pc crashes etc.

Then just leaving and ignoring (or just not replying but reading) the posts. I dunno how safe it is also to rely only on one programmer Rene. Sure every company and product isnt safe in future.

On the other hand so many here write and write and dont write support mails to vps/rene and wait for manuel to reply... thats also not the right move.

Overall this whole process isnt a clean move of vps and should be cleared up.

For me i just love avenger and i hope to be able to use it further. Otherwise i wouldnt care.

About the sample stacker, I tried searching for an answer but can't find one.

Sometimes I get the + sign to add a sample but sometimes it is not there. I think this is especially the case when you drag and drop your own sample in the sample stacker.

Any idea?

so in both of my hosts (Ableton Live 10 and Reason 11) I am repeatedly having an issue where when closing the programs, if the session being closed contains Avenger, the program will hang / fail to close, and go into "program is not responding' mode, requiring a Force Quit to make it actually close. It doesn't happen all the time though, but about half the time or more. The more avenger instances in a session, the more likely it is to happen when I close / quit the session.

anybody else seen this? Not totally sure, but I think it started with the recent 1.5 updates, because I don't recall this happening historically.

We will see. Got it again. Of course I had enabled it initially when the public beta was made available. That first license got lost (hoping it comes back). This is the second installed license.
