The freebie is for Arturia customers. Arturia customers use the Software Center in the same way as NI customers use Native Access, Sonokinetic customers use Sonokinetic Manager and iZotope customers use the Product Portal, etc. Not very difficult to "get it", is it?
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

It seems they fixed the server problems, activation is working now.
I like the sound, remembers me a lot to the UAD Plate 140. Works excellent on Snare, Hats and sounds which needs a bit space. I replaced it on sounds where I've used the ValhallaPlate and like the Arturia more.

The software manages updates for you, to save you the extra hassle. Also they expect you to use the freebies to upgrade at some point.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 10:27 am I don't get it why we need to install additional software centre applications , even for a freebee ??

I usually kind of like skeuomorphic UIs but they've taken it too far with this one. I'm grateful for DAW controls to bypass the GUI.
It does sound nice though. I don't care how authentic it is or isn't, personally.

Yes - that makes perfect sense to me.heavymetalmixer wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 3:57 am I think we shouldn't choose between both because they're different to begin with:
Raum is for digital and big spaces.
Plate-140 is for more organic and saturated sounds.
I just gave them a cursory try, and haven't fully explored or used them yet.
Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard of that.v1o wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 4:05 am People keep mentioning Raum but they forget Acon Verberate Basic. Don’t sleep on Verberate Basic it’s excellent.

Love all of them, sound quality like paid reverbs. NI will charge later for an enhanced version as usual...
NI gave me a good freeze, I was missing, and the Arturia sounds just wonderful. Better than the later gold plates. Back then you would have had to rent an extra room for the original, the only reason the gold plate was developed...

It still sneaks the Arturia Software Center on to your system even when you download the single plugin:robotmonkey wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:40 am Aahh, I see you can still download it as a single plugin without having to mess around with ASC. I only have another Arturia plugins which I have not installed recently so I'm not keen on getting another software manager on mys system.
It even required a reboot.....for a freeware plugin. How far into a system do you have to get your hooks to require a reboot....for a freeware plugin?
I tried manually removing the Arturia folder but the plugin then wanted to be registered again.
I appreciate the generosity when these companies give away freebies but I'd appreciate it a great deal more if they would stop taking liberties with my systems and stop filling them with kludge.
Shame as it's a nice sounding Plate Reverb but another plugin that won't make it on to my studio system.

It is only free as in beer, they might charge for it later. All these companies bind their plug-ins to their authorization system. They want your e-mail as well to send you ads etc. This is all fine for free as in beer. If you want real free software, look for open source...

I'm guessing next year it'll be part of a '3 reverbs you'll actually use' bundleTj Shredder wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:36 pm It is only free as in beer, they might charge for it later.

These are not freeware plugins they are simply attack vectors to get the developer's hooks into your system.Tj Shredder wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:36 pm It is only free as in beer, they might charge for it later. It's brilliant marketing but hardly altruistic.........
Perhaps you haven't been around long enough to remember when freeware meant a .dll or a simple installer. I remember well but I suppose those days are long over at least for larger developers.
In just the last few days........
Raum: Requires Native Access
Plate 140: Requires Arturia Software Center
Celestial: Requires Aquarius
IK Black 76: Requires Custom Shop and IK License Manager
(I assume. I already own the 76 so am not sure if it installs all the bloatware but I suspect it does).
You can see after awhile you'll accumulate a lot of bloatware on your DAW...for a few free plugins.
I've already got Access and IK stuff installed for other plugins but I don't need yet another Plate Reverb bad enough to install even more bloatware on my DAW which I am trying to keep lean and mean to ensure stability and longevity.....YMMV......
