You don't get it. The plug-in is NOT free. It's TEMPORARILY free (until December 25th) but it will be a paid plug-in later.

So, what you get is a regular plug-in, for which you pay... nothing, for the moment. But if you don't want it or need it, noone forces you, of course

I really feel all the Christmas love in the air in all the latest KVR threads....NOT!
KVR folk, you was not a good boy/girl this year and so Krampus will install so many bloatware on your system and all your synths and sample libraries might transform into sleigh bells.

Tj Shredder wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:36 pm It is only free as in beer, they might charge for it later. All these companies bind their plug-ins to their authorization system. They want your e-mail as well to send you ads etc. This is all fine for free as in beer. If you want real free software, look for open source...
These are not freeware plugins they are simply attack vectors to get the developer's hooks into your system.
But for those who are attached already, its a nice add-on. As I have the V collection and Komplete, I don’t mind, and both sound really good...
But definitely I should uninstall Aquarius, its too expensive in eating resources, not free at all... I think I would never use it anyway...

In just the last few days........

Raum: Requires Native Access

Plate 140: Requires Arturia Software Center

Celestial: Requires Aquarius

IK Black 76: Requires Custom Shop and IK License Manager

(I assume. I already own the 76 so am not sure if it installs all the bloatware but I suspect it does).

You can see after awhile you'll accumulate a lot of bloatware on your DAW...for a few free plugins.

I've already got Access and IK stuff installed for other plugins but I don't need yet another Plate Reverb bad enough to install even more bloatware on my DAW which I am trying to keep lean and mean to ensure stability and longevity.....YMMV......
Exactly! I commented about this exact issue earlier today over at Bedroomproducersblog!

While I highly appreciate the freebie plugins given by those plugin companies (yes, it's not entirely altruistic, but mostly for marketing purposes) and I can see why they would want to secure their software from pirating, I'm losing tolerance for those "license manager" schemes that don't respect the interests of the common user.

Those companies should get together and develop one common and user friendly standard for copy protection, license management and plugin installation. Nothing that requires you to download a 2 gb installer first just to get a 20 mb plugin. Nothing that requires you to be constantly online (ideally a solution that includes an offline option aswell, where you can download the license activcation file from an online computer and transfer to your offline audio workstation via USB drive).

I mean: they manages to get together to develop the MIDI standard, they managed to make VST a common crossplatform plugin standard. It's time to stop bloating the users with redundant "license manager" softwares and to improve the mechanism. In the meantime I stick with companies like Klanghelm and Tokyo Dawn Labs who respect their users privacy and life time, instead of forcing them to jump through dozens of hoops for minimum benefit. Think about it: if this wasn't a free plugin, but actually a commercial product you paid 100 bucks for and they still expect you to struggle through all this nonsense just to intall the software you paid for! Unbelievable! Who willingly pays for such a guaranteed bad experience?

There was (and is) that failed commercial attempt for that called iLok... :x

It's worth noting that both Native Access and Aquarius can be uninstalled while still retaining access to the plugins they installed.

So that's two fewer reasons to bitch this holiday season. :hihi:
A well-behaved signature.

It took me a long time to get through on Arturia's servers, but finally got it and it is really quite good! Small complaint: it is annoying to have to click those little "+,-" buttons a bunch of times to change the decay time. I'd like to be able to click and drag on it. Luckily, this doesn't affect the ability to automate decay time, as that parameter is available.

Hopefully, this may change in a future revision. :)

Oddly enough the minimum decay (0) is still a bit long when used on drums, at least for my taste. Still great fun to use, but would definitely love a continuous rather than discrete decay

Not working for me. I managed to install it last night, but couldn't activate it.

Now, 24 hours on... "Can't connect to the Arturia Servers". I can't be bothered with the offline activation rigmarole, it will have to wait until they fix it.

Post

on the mac it installs
/Library/Arturia/Samples/Rev PLATE-140/Arturia/
and in there various *.rev files, size 600k to 5MB

Samples?

could this be audio files? IR? convolution?

Same here.
I've wasted enough time on this installation.
It's nice to get a Freebie now and then but this has been a pain in the a^$e.
From getting to the download to Synch'ing ASC then a great big fail on Activating the damned thing.

Does it encourage me to spend more money on their stuff ??
