Like having nexus2 with it's library content, and nexus3 with it's own content, loading independently.
Actually it is possible to run both as I did it by accident when their installer didn't update my VST2 version. I think if you renamed Nexus 2's dll to something else, or put it in another location, you'd be able to run them side by side. Nexus 2 would I believe still run all the pre-Nexus 3 expansions.

Anyone?

N2 allowed it, but you lost that if upgrading to N3. Don’t know if the licenses became NFR.

Thanks. Does it mean upgrading N2 to N3 makes it non-transferable?

What if purchasing N3 outright or through someone? Is it transferable in future? In case anyone knows...

I think you better ask this to reFX support, they always answer quite fast.

Alright, thanks. I thought it might be a trivial question and would be answered faster here. I will contact reFX support. :)

It's the big mystery that none of us actually know the answer to, please remember to report back!

That's strange. Okay, I will. :tu:

The problem with sound designers, only producing a dance, trance style, techno, edm, or whatever is radio popular, is there's an entire world of sounds n genres not available. This is ridiculous we can't layer our own paid for content, and this will cease my purchases. Yes I can layer in my daw, but not have an N3 smart browser system to go with it for recall.

N3 update should be made to at least layer the content to create what we like vs what the sound design team likes., and save it as multis..
We want high quality content, so we chose to invest in your company.
Don't be so close minded to not allow us to layer n come up with our own combination of it.

Some of us have been around since version 1 and have been dying for layering options, you give us arp layers, but not the one thing weve been asking for, for over 10 years. :dog:

after you've heard a handful of expansion packs - they all seem to basically sound the same!
this can only be said from someone who does not produce these genres. For me Heavy Metal sounds all the same too. But a listener to Metal would tell me its not :) And he is probably right.
Good point, and probably true - for both POVs.

And I wasn't saying there are only 10 non-EDM expansions, but I wish at least every 10 new expansions could be a non-EDM type style, such as evolving pads and natural instruments and modern synths beyond the stereotypical and cliche dance sounds. Such expansions even help dance daddies expand their sonic pallet, I would imagine. All the bands and artists I have enjoyed over the last many decades have stepped beyond the usual and expected, and explored new vistas! You can't do this if your platform is not only closed, but limited in scope as well.

The lack of layering and the ability to create new sound combos is the saddest facet of the new upgrade, for me. A real missed opportunity for the growth and continued life of Nexus. A pigeon hole approach, IMO. Here's all the sounds you need, now make music that doesn't all sound the same! You don't need no stinking creativity in sound design - we make for you! Now dance!

Agree 100%, if anything it will bring more sales for them as they add new sample content. Plus it'd be more versatile and interesting.
This current business is that propellerheads approach, and we all saw what happened in that case. They lost more customers due to their lack of customer requests, but eventually they had to add vst support in the long run. 🙄

I know this has probably been discussed before, but can anyone confirm that after updating to N3 all older projects that used N2 are opening in N3 and sound the same as before? During the release day I've read a lot of negative stuff it wouldn't work as supposed - which would be a deal breaker for me. Hope this has been solved? Thanks :)

Here's the response from reFX on my questions:
1) Is Nexus 3 license transferable?

Yes, it can be transferred once.

2) If yes, is there any fee for transferring it?

Yes, there is a $25.00 USD fee.

3) If yes to 1, does it become NFR after it is transferred to second owner, or can the second owner resell it again?

Yes, it becomes NFR after it is transferred.

4) Is there any Christmas/New Year discount on Nexus 3 Standard?

Unfortunately no, only the other bundles and expansions will be discounted this year.

Well that's it, I am done with refx. My list of negatives far outweighs the positives at this point.

Thanks for posting that info, LoveEnigma18 :tu:
