Some do and some don't. Some of uss on GS were trying to get the message clear to G to document this. I suggested, on each product page on their site, there be a box that includes the input level calibration, what sample rates are available and any other pertinent info to the current version. He won't do it of course.adl wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2019 4:27 amAs far as I know AA plugin needs to be gainstaged at -18dB, so maybe you where running it way to hot, as the track was already mastered?v1o wrote: Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:47 pm I put this on an already mastered track, just turning it on results in a level increase and immediate compression to the source signal. Internally the signal path is running pretty hot and not gain staged properly. I dunno if it’s quite ready yet for prime yet. I preferred the track without Celestial to be honest.
I can never remember so what I just got in the habit of opening them up in Plugin Doctor to see what level they need. Or, if am feeling lazy, I set all level into Acquas to -18 RMS just in case. I use the Hornet auto gain meters for this.

Honestly, I am as jealous of using AA plugins as I am jealous of being in a straitjacket.v1o wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2019 4:28 amYou sound jealous. But if you feel good being a true believer, then good for you, man.
Apologies for interrupting your proselytizing schedule though.

they're not CPU hungry because they're leading edge. They're cpu hungry because they're redundant, convolution is nothing new.plexuss wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:05 pm
Yeah... that's a challenge with AA products. They use leading-edge technology to do their analogue emulations. I am running a 2010 mac pro 12-core 3GHz machine with Logic and Reaper. AA works pretty ok on it but only up to a point.
Celestials works find on my machine and sounds great so far in my learning it.
And is not emulation, it's a copy.
Emulation has the edge of sounding different but good on its own merit, the copy no matter what will always just be a copy of the original

using a fuckload of CPU so you can feel important when you mix with it.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 4:18 pm People are raving about this over on GS but its 'magic' seems to be passing me by. What's supposed to be the standout component of it?

OK this sounds bloody awesome, have to pinch myself.
Trying out the master version. The width filter, high shelf pushing into hf comp and saturation are giving me what I usually try to do with 3-4 other plugs, only better. I'm talking reserved and delicate use, not pushing it beyond reason. Well gain staged ofc.
The last thing I need is another money sink, but I think I'm being AA-pilled.

I own a few AA products but barely use them due to CPU/latency reasons, but if you can't hear what's so great about it, noone can help you. It does sound noticably better than comparable algo plugins (and I own and use many). As with many AA plugins, it has that analogue, round, musical smoothness.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 4:18 pm People are raving about this over on GS but its 'magic' seems to be passing me by. My perspective is this: dynamic convolution's a great idea, and when I first heard of Acustica's stuff, I tried out the freebies.
That was a good many moons ago, and the problem (CPU, etc.) has apparently not changed. Also not crazy about the whole installer/manager requirement, not worth the hassle to demo what would probably still chew up too much 'puter time for the results.. there's plenty of less sexy but practical methods to achieve "analog mojo" yada yada- it's not back-breaking to set up a "channel strip" FX preset that doesn't give your system a hernia, yet gives good results that won't leave listeners noticing any appreciable difference.

Although Celestial is not a 1-2-1 Fusion clone, it's close, and I'd recommend you watch this video to get you started:Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:09 pmWhat specific component of it is the part you would say I'd want to use it for, the thing that makes it special? Is it the 'mojo' from the saturation?Mr. Spock wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:01 pmI own a few AA products but barely use them due to CPU/latency reasons, but if you can't hear what's so great about it, noone can help you. the preamp, harmonics/texture section (+compressor) should be enough to get started.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:09 pmWhat specific component of it is the part you would say I'd want to use it for, the thing that makes it special? man, listening to AA customers is like listening to audiophiles go on about their 20000$ turntable and 40000$ speakers in an untreated living room next to a railroad. Good show, good show.Mr. Spock wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:01 pm
