Here's a way to look at it. If it is mainly the engine you want to upgrade to and since there is no more engine only upgrade your best option is to get the L version. Since it comes with some sounds too then pick through the ones you like and don't use the ones you don't. I did some of them by the way. I went through the entire ST1 XL sound set and did new preset patches for IK for the new ST2 L and XL. Some of it I really liked a lot and I am sure many of you would too. Then the new sample set IK did is stellar. I love some of the brass, pianos, vocal and strings in particular. I did about 20 or so samples for the XL version such as the mandolin with velocity tremolo, electro strato, the IMap kits (naturally) and some other cool ones. Anyway, the reason I mention it is because I hear a lot of people say they prefer Sonic Reality sounds sometimes but since I was involved partially in the patch programmming and some of the samples then you are still getting a little bit of our touch even on this product. So, really, you might as well get some of the sounds! Why not? It's all in how you look at it. It's worth it though. LE is great value but to have the full engine is really awesome. Don't you want to tweak those fx more? More instances? Import? Messing around with other tools in there?
