Most samples in chiptune music were simple 8bit single cycle waveforms. Just "draw" a ~60 samples long waveform in your favorite sampler, turn the interpolation off (if you are a sane person, as interpolatin is for evil people who eat cats) and convert the sample to 8bit.

For bigger samples like drums simply use very short 8bit samples. The easiest way to get some authentic samples would probably be to rip samples from old mods. You can find plenty of them here: http://modarchive.org/
To rip the samples you coud use something like Milkytracker (my favorite) or OpenMPT.

The classic ST-XX samples are also a good place to start. You can still download them here: https://archive.org/details/AmigaSoundt ... Packsst-xx

1+ This site is really great when it comes to chipmusic. :tu:
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
