Korg releases Korg Triton VST

Played around with the demo this morning. Some nice sounds, yes of course.. but many presets are really out of date and sound old, cheesy, 90''s whatever but somehow not in a good way. Of course that's what the Triton sound was/is and there is nothing wrong with it but paying 149 bucks today for it is a different story. Honestly, i already got bored a little after a few hours, then again i'm not the target group i think. I can't see what it would bring to my music that is worth the investment of $149.

Yeah, and hope it doesn't stop here. Z1 was already mentioned, MS2000 (with higher polyphony than the original 4), Radias, even up to KingKorg in some years.....Jace-BeOS wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2019 9:46 pm Curious that they made this. Someone at Korg is clearly seeing the money in revisiting old gear...

Please change topic title to Korg Triton released or something.Shiek927 wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2019 8:00 pm https://www.instagram.com/p/B5pNOnght4B/
This was a unexpected and really appreciated surprise! korg_app teases at what looks like a Triton emulation coming soon. This was a long-awaited request of mind and I didn't think they'd actually do it. It might be for iOS only, but hopefully it'll make the jump to a Window plugin![]()

Here is the timeline of their ROM based synths (there were first attempts before the M1 but which were never been released, except a short series of DRM-1 (a ROM-based rhythm box) and a short series of DVP-1 (a ROM-based vocoder):gentleclockdivider wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:48 amThe m3 was released long before the kronos , it was release when the Oasys was their flagship synthJace-BeOS wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2019 9:46 pm
The M3 was weirdly positioned alongside their much more expensive and feature-filled, top-of-the-line Kronos. And then they also undercut it shortly after with the cheaper and feature-reduced Krome. I never understood their thinking with all this...
M3 also came out when software studios had become THE thing. Triton didn’t have that same competition, so I imagine end user perception of them is much more affectionate toward the Triton just by default because it had more room to sell units.

The PCM footprint of Triton VST is 233mb. That is about right for the original expanded. The dll is 50mb.
I have no idea where the 8gb is coming from.

I mixed this up with Trinity
i read a great soundtrack from the ps1 game PARASITE EVE featured only ir most of Trinity sounds. Triton is a totally different soundset is it?
Does anyone know if other soundtracks featured Triton at all?

And maybe a virtual wavedrum, but they still sell them and without the real skin it would be pretty useless...

I think I paid 49$ for the Wavestation not less than 5 years ago. The old legacy collection synths never exceeded 99$ each.DevonB wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2019 3:10 amThey werent. KLC1 with the ms20 hardware was $499 at first. Then it dropped. I think i got it on clearance for like $149. I think the plugins were $99 each if I recall, and then not long ago they all became $49 when they switched websites?EvilDragon wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:24 pmIIRC KLC individual plugins weren't always $49...JohnPativens wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:19 pmOne could compare the price of the other Legacy Collection modules as well to their hardware counterparts, though they were priced very cheap instead.EvilDragon wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2019 7:02 pmNot too much considering how much it would take you to get the hardware with all the EXB boards...JohnPativens wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:52 pmYes. Also, buying the Triton VST alone costs 199$ on sale (249 after sale period).
Too much yet.f
You can't even get all 9 EXBs for $249.
Devon
Triton is 249$ after sale price, which means it's gonna cost 125$ on the very next 50% off Korg sale.
If one is interested in the whole V2 collection, this is the best moment to buy since it's 199 for everything as long as you have a M1Le coupon.
I'm actually interested in Triton only, very looking forward for the next sale then.

Also, I see you are recalling lots of hip hop and edm music made with Triton workstations. Don't forget it totally defined 90's Progressive Rock/Metal signature sound, together with Kurzweil Kxxx series.

Missing on that list;
Korg N5/N1/N1r - 1998
(Owned the N5 and two of N1r. Still have the N5.)
Think this would've been great two years ago. Not sure if anything but nostalgia could get me to buy and actually use it now.

sound "modern" you have to feed it through some distortion effect to make it more abrasive and obnoxious

I know that and also mention it already. The point is some people like it some not. I don't like it and i'm not a fan of modern sounds btw. Has nothing to do with it. Hope you get it now.layzer wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2019 5:53 pmof course its going to sound "dated" its from 1999.. if you want it tomladi wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2019 2:03 pm but many presets are really out of date and sound old, cheesy, 90''s whatever but somehow not in a good way.
