Finally installed latest non beta - no issues

Just to balance out some of the negative issues with the copy protection
I have to agree, the minority always sound more than the majority. Of the possibly 500 users (just a guess) who have written in this thread, 10-15 users have had problems, but instead of writing just once, they have written 5-10 times each (just an estimation). And how many of these are just user errors?

I haven't had any problem at all either, and I didn't even follow the steps, I just installed.

Yes, KVR, and particularly this thread, often becomes a shelter for the whining minority.

Yes, KVR, Gearslutz, Gearpage, the facebook groups. All wrong. Perfect plugin. Perfect company :clown:

At least you know the many places where some people complains.

I'm tired of reading that Avenger is unstable or that the Codemeter upgrade is a mess. I've had 2 or 3 crashes in my entire life with Avenger (which is less than Falcon), and had strictly no problem with the Codemeter upgrade, excepted that it has been a pain in the @ss to reinstall every expansion (34 files !!!). I'm a very happy customer, and Avenger is the greatest possible VST synth of all times.

CodeMeter issues are very rare but they do happen and if they happen they can be exceptionally difficult to resolve. From what I understand CodeMeter does not maintain a central license database, so it is possible that license container corruptions can make licenses disappear into nothingness. This "it is working for me, therefore everything is ok" attitude is completely missing the point.

That's absolutely not what it's about. Reading complaints and complaints make it look like nobody can successfully work with Avenger. Actually a lot of us do. THIS is my point

And MY point is that I shouldn't be forced to install a copy protection scheme I'm uncomfortable with AFTER I've already paid. As I've repeatedly said, I specifically purchased based on the specific representation that Avenger used a keyfile and not CodeMeter. I'm sure CodeMeter works fine for many people. If VPS had either (1) instituted CodeMeter from the beginning (so I could have avoided making a purchase altogether) or (2) refunded my money after they made this change, I wouldn't have any complaint. But they chose to switch the terms on me, and not offer a refund. I have every right to complain about that.

I have two questions I hope someone can answer:

1. When I import my own drum samples into the drum slots, then "save Drumkit as" into my custom expansion, are the drum samples incoporated into the drum kit preset? If not, it would be a mess if I one day decided to reorder my sample folders.

2. Let´s say I want to use a shape or wavetable from a bought expansion (for example Techno 1) as a basis for a custom preset, and then later I decide to "Publish Expansion", will that shape or wavetable get stored into the preset? Or will that preset only work as long as I have Techno 1 expansion installed?

Of course you can. But after 10 times, we got your point.

At this point the people reading your complaints on KVR are users and not the devs, who have already been chased off by angry users. Time to move on...

I'm calling bullshit on this unless you can provide some sort of link to back this up.

Same here. Jumped in today, followed the steps listed, all worked fine.

Slightly cumbersome: downloading and installing the expansions again, which can only be done one by one.
Funny find: the v1.5 expansions were installed in a new /expansions subfolder. It kept the v1.4 expansion files. So I deleted 10+ GB myself to free some space.

Works fine so far, flat skin is most lovely.

Now to updating Stefken's skin to 1.5, too.

All I can say is that I had issues with the Reason offline authorization twice. In one incident even uninstalling/reinstalling CodeMeter did not help. Only a complete system reinstall would resolve the problem. Since the runtime was not functional any license deauthorization would not work and wiping the system during a reinstall also wiped all license containers (on a Mac these are stored in a series of database files in the Application Support folder) and with it all licenses. In case of Reason this is less of an issue since Propellerheads allows you to recover licenses on broken machines. This is a rare situation, but it does happen. Took me an entire weekend to get my system fully functional again which is probably why I am reacting very itchy when it comes to CodeMeter.

I had a second issue when for whatever reason a MAAT installation created a container that ended up confusing the CodeMeter runtime. That I could resolve by manually deleting the corresponding container database files from the Application Support folder. Took a bit of trial and error to find the files that caused the issue but I ended up successfully cleaning up the CodeMeter installation.
