Maybe Behringer should create a luxury brand like car companies do. People expect and get more from a Lexus than a Toyota.
Roland? :? I have two of these $300 Behringer synths, and they both sound great. Never heard a great sounding Roland synth. Moog sounds great, and Berhringer sounds as good as Moog but for 1/10 of the price. Yet, recreating vintage synths has already hit the full potential. I mean there are already enough models to choose from. The Cat? Ok, who cares, I already have similar sounding gear.

The original (which I had never heard of before) sounded quite nasty somehow:

why?
Because Urs owns the originals, all three revisions!

Hopefully you will release vst version and then you can give it a cool name!

so?

try it in a shop, you either like it or you don't.

or do you only buy what Urs tells you?

I like what I heard in that video already but I'm not sure how close it is to the real thing - Urs owning the real things would enable the comparison.

Let's not make inane assumptions, shall we?

does it matter? I doubt 1% of buyers own the original

like i said, you either like it or you don't. it's your money, not his

this is one i might be interested in, and i give a poop all about does it sound exactly like the original... anybody that says that was born too late. what i want to know is, do all these things sound different, do they actually have different filters and oscillators? or are they just variations of the same builds with different names?

I'm so damn spoiled by instant reload on VSTs that I will probably never buy something like this for my "studio". But one of these Behringers would be a great thing to decorate my living room with. For occasional bits of fun. If something cool happens, it's always possible to sample it. Cool toy for big boys. (...and gals!)
