Haven't tried them yet, but since it's much much newer than my
Mint 18, I assume it will be a little better, assuming I stick with
the currently working wine-staging 4.20/21. Haven't had any major
regressions in those areas.

The first rollout of wine 5 is out now, so even more things to check out.
I can safely test with the bootable usbstick, slower and not strictly identicle to a disk install, but better than rolling dice in the dark

I may do a spearcatcher Arch Manjaro install on my mini ssd, if the weather holds.
Still have my page of yay and pacman commands.

Cool, I am testing out Manjaro on a VM. There is a package for Cabbage in AUR, if i get it working, i can port some cabbage open source plugins to linux. I tried building it and ran into lot of dependency issues on Mint.

This one. I tried compiling Cabbage with all the dependecies listed but it gives some C++ error, i am not deep into C++ to know what the error is since its using some APIs for the code.

There is compiled Cabbage for the openSUSE https://software.opensuse.org//download ... ge=cabbage
at least you can unpack whole rpm in your system and run directly the binary file

It didn't exit the compilation, it just lead to corrupt binaries, i'll try again today and post you with error details.

I Successfully converted the rpm package (Leap 15.1) to deb package and installed it, cabbage is working. However, the exported plugin is not getting detected by niether Tracktion or Carla

When i press play button on cabbage, the GUI appears but no sound is audible (I checked for the output device in settings and sound is audible with the test button).

Did you try ToneZ only or checked the bundled examples too? All (or almost) works for me.
Building Cabbage can be tricky at first time. You need to have the JUCE with Projucer and VST2 SDK.

I tried bundled examples as well, none of them make sound and do not get detected as vst.
If you can, can you export vst of ToneZ and share it? Since its GPL its allowed legally as well.

I enjoy playing/practing guitar and keys while watching a movie.
Below, you'll see how you can have a synth, a line-out equipped
guitar amp, and Hulu streaming/live TV in one set of headphones,
by way of (in my case, yours may vary)
a PCI soundcard, motherboard audio, and some
well-pasted text. The picture far below, includes a command to run the second
soundcard, using 'alsa_in' shown in a black terminal. and in a gray
text-editor window, some text to apply in your qjackctl settings,

It also shows the actual connections made in qjackctl,
that send it all to human ears,

The link below shows ubuntu-synaptic commands that enable the 'hal'
repository, and content, explaining that Hulu TV needs it, and then will play in
a flash-enabled linux Firefox,

The command below launches alsa_in with the intel-chip motherboard sound
connectors then appearing in qjackctl connection panel, upper left,
check the pic:

/usr/bin/alsa_in -j HDA-intel "HDA Intel PCH" -q 1 2>&1 1> /dev/null

The jackd audio and PulseAudio must communicate, so use your
package manager to install:

pulseaudio-module-jack

...then open qjackctl and issue the command as also seen in the pic:

Configure qjackctl to run the following command after startup.
Copy it into "Setup..." > "Options" > "Execute script after Startup":

pacmd set-default-sink jack_out

other commands

aplay -l
arecord -l

will ID your soundcards, and use the text displayed within,
but not including brackets, wherever a soundcard title configuration
needs it, as used in the alsa_in example above. Your setup likely
will be slightly different, but should be doable.

Also, Netflix runs in linux google-chrome-stable, no 'hal' needed,
and might work in the same fashion. It has it's own easy-to-install

Main soundcard has the headphones that receive:
Hulu audio from motherboard soundchip
Zynaddsubfx synth output
Guitar sound from main soundcard line-in

A new version, Guitarix V2, was released back in mid-January,
and then the author added a GIT page

Hi y'all, I'm working on Dragonfly Reverb again. There is a prerelease available: 2.9.1-beta. The Hall and Room reverbs are almost completely untouched, but there is a new plate reverb with three algorithms from Freeverb3, called Simple, Nested, and Tank. The Simple and Nested algorithms are two variations of NVerb; they were called A and B in NVerb's interface. The Tank algorithm is based on STRev. To better hear the differences between the algorithms, crank up the decay time a bit and it will be much more obvious.
