I have many synths. Not all. I'd say Zebra 2 is my most used synth in my own music. I just find it the easiest to use and quickest to get inspired by. I have a bunch of commercial preset libraries for it I often use as a starting point - the sound of the synth and quality of the sound libraries make it my go-to. I usually lay down initial tracks with Zebra 2 and then embelish with other synths.

My most used PLUGIN is Pianoteq. As for Synths, I'm not sure according to all these discussions. I know I've used Dark Planet often in the last couple of months, but that's a sub-engine of HALion, which according to my DAWs, are listed under Sampler. And third I use Musiclab Rick a lot as well, which again, according to my DAWs, are listed under Synths (as is Pianoteq.)
So maybe my standards would still be Alchemy 1 and ZebraHZ. They're both under Synth, but some may say the Alchemy swiss army knife approach may discount it also.
Last couple of weeks I've been playing with some Rob Papen (most surprisingly to me, Blade, layered with Zebralette. And SubBoomBass2, layered with ACE.)
But in the OPT's strictest sense, I'd have to say the four U-he synths get the most play in noodling, jams, and working.

Same. Still get the occasional GAS temptation but being broke has made me actually acquaint myself properly with what I bought when I caved in somewhat flusher days.Vortifex wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2020 2:35 pmIn fact I could probably dump at least half my synths and not miss them.
Think I could do most of what I require with Icarus, Rapid, ANA 2, Massive X, Harmor and Arcsyn, plus a few other more specialised synths. Will see which of the others I figure are worth keeping during this relatively ascetic period.

Since 2014, in terms of VST's, U-HE's Hive (v1 to v2). There's never a track where it's never used unless I'm bench testing another in CPU performance tests.
Rapid is the newest synth to my large set, but I have short list of regulars...and the others are really those which I try and remember to use and can see properly at 1440P resolutions now.
Generally though other than the two i mentioned, my track production kit includes...
Addictive Keys (Grand Piano)
Bazille CM version (with the CM logo removed)
Impact XT
Presence XT
Mai Tai
NI Rounds
NI Kontour
NI Form
NI Razor
NI Skanner XT
Zebralette
So around generally around 13 or less in any particular track..
_____
Rarely ever used, although I know I should include..
NI Spark
NI Micro Prism
_____
I've otherwise got a very large library of other plugins and NI ensembles which goes into the hundreds.
_____
I make use of my hardware keyboard synthesizers sounds on occasion
too.

Turns out I mostly used MSoundFactory and Falcon during 2019. I guess modular is my thing

Sylenth1 is always in the mix. Still one of the best sounding synths that exists, Solid, rich, interesting VA style sounds with a bit of life in them, still surprises every time I use it. It does not emulate analogue to perfection but what it has is high quality and is characterful.

Just looked into the project i'm currently making. It has Virus TI, Bazille, Serum, Sylenth, Microbrute, Dune3 and Rapid. These are what i indeed use the most.
Used to be a big fan of Spire but for whatever reason I don't use it a lot these days. Also i expected Massive X to become one of my main synths but the latest update was seriously broken so i wait them to fix it.

Yeah but don't you have like 26 million hardware synths to compliment the 1 softsynth?rob_lee wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:27 am Tal Noise Maker - Free

Got about 12/13 hardware synths BUT Tal Noise Maker is up there and I can integrate it in my set up. Absolutely love it and it's the only soft synth I need for what I do. I do have about 5 soft synths in total but only installed the Tal.ramseysounds wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 12:28 pmYeah but don't you have like 26 million hardware synths to compliment the 1 softsynth?rob_lee wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:27 am Tal Noise Maker - Free

Tons of tracks but if you open any one of them you will about 100% of the time see instances of Air's Hybrid, Battery 3 and 4 (I use both for different reasons). I own pretty much every name softsynth except Omnisphere and Zebra2 and I try to bounce through them all but the 2 I mentioned above are in everything.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

Serum and Spire are used the most here. Plus Falcon as my main sampler.
But i try to use something else in each production and i layer a lot of sounds.

I compose in Studio One, and my default template has a Mai Tai track ready to go, so that's the one I use most often. Other than that, it's Hive, Rob Papen Blue 2, Chromaphone...
And I love Alchemy, and have a bunch of libraries from the old days, so I sometimes fire up Logic to work with those sounds.
Oh, and it's not really a synth, but Output Arcade makes it onto just about everything I do.

Still Zebra HZ for me.
Serum is starting to get more and more use, as my homemade preset bank grows.
I think overall, Serum can produce nicer sounds than Zebra HZ (for the music I make), but Serum is nowhere near as fluid, when it comes to sound design, so although I love the sound of Serum, i don't think it will ever replace Zebra HZ as my number one.

My most used virtual studio technology instrument is HALion. I have about 15 others, including Largo, Predator, Absynth, I often start with one or other but always go back to HALion. I regularly use EW Play and some Kontakt Player guitar libs.
And GrooveAgent is on practically everyone of my tracks.
