I've heard about this band for a while but never checked them out. After doing so I was blown away by the growls coming from such a petite woman. I watched a few vids and then saw this live video:

I don't doubt she is doing all the singing but during the growls she seems to perform them extremely effortlessly. I would have expected a deep inhalation of breath and/or a little more exertion.

So my question: is she really that good or is there some processing going on? She just makes it look so easy...

EDIT: Got my answer. The recorded stuff is hugely effected (ok) but the live vids are overdubbed ( :()

This is part of the reason I hate Evanescence. I don't doubt the talent is there but it's pushing toward the commercial side a little too much for my liking.

totally different thing, but i remember the first year all the "glampers" turned up at glastonbury.
totally messed up the music :(
there had always been loads of indie/dance stuff, but then all of a sudden beyonce and actual pop acts :o at first just the odd one, now it's all major artists and absolutely no really weird shit

dude I dont hate...but I would be quite content if I never heard Amy Lee sing again. Nothing at all wrong with how she's sings, not saying she isn't talented because she is...her voice just irks me for some reason and I know that it's just me.

Here's the thing, I have three or four albums of her on my phone/tablets/ipod/computers (also several cds but they are still packed away). Denise loved Evanescence and Amy Lee (I think I have her doing a song with Seether too). I have spoke of how I keep albums of Deise's because I cant bring myself to delete them and tbh skipping them makes me feel a little better (as dumb as that sounds)

I figured someone sometime must have done a song called Ginger Down Below...didn't find it but thought maybe I was onto something when I found a band called Ginger Root...nothing to do with this topic, apologies but really I had to share...then I searched on their name and found this
Editing films, videos, and other multimedia by day, and making music under the name Ginger Root by night, Cameron Lew fronts a sounds that can be described as:

"Aggressive Elevator Soul".

Combining elements from contemporaries like Toro Y Moi, Vulfpeck, Jay Som, and Mocky with the influences of the days of Stax and Philly Soul, Ginger Root offers a fresh take on the ever evolving Bedroom Pop scene.
So I gotta ask, yo Ginger Root are you among us?

Not surprising, so many touring acts use backing tracks. :borg:

It's one reason I have a paying industry gig now. That and my unerring virtuosity. :hihi:

Pretty sure I said this here before...

A friend was visiting his family in Italy where he knew the stage manager at the local theater really well. He went to visit him and he told him a story about ELO...

The band made a huge deal about keeping people away from the backstage area, so after the gig started the stage manager walked all the areas backstage. He went under the stage and found sophisticated multi-track recording equipment. First thing he did was locate the stop button and press it. Everything went silent on stage...

I saw them live a few months ago- great show and nothing seemed fake about it! I was standing a few feet away from the singer. I don't see how they would be any more or less suspect than any other band on stage.

I was surprised to find this out some years ago, but apparently such things as lip syncing coaches exist...
