"When synthesizers emerged in the 1960s, they were viewed as avant-garde, valued by the 1960s psychedelic and counter-cultural scenes for their ability to make new sounds, but with little perceived commercial potential".

"Suzanne Ciani (born June 4, 1946) is an American musician, sound designer, composer, and record label executive who found early success in the 1970s with her innovative electronic music and sound effects for films and television commercials.....Her success with electronic music has her dubbed "Diva of the Diode" and "America's first female synth hero".

"She has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album five times".

"The sound of a bottle of Coca-Cola being opened and poured was one of Ciani's most widely recognized works and was used in radio and television commercials in the late 1970s. She is also responsible for "logo" sounds pertaining to Energizer and ABC".

I still have this issue. She was one of my early influences.

There is so much more to Synthesis than is considered here at KVR.......

Synths=noise except when they emulate traditional instruments. Synthesis was more about making emulations of "real" instruments at the beginning . I have never found noise satisfying or interesting. I rather hear real music by real musicians.
why are you posting in a thread about synths then?

if you have no interest in them, post somewhere else

so your music is meaningless drivel?

Software, I now use mostly Falcon, Kontakt and EZDrummer. Always been big on samplers and sample-based instruments, as well as - in particular - things that can mix up a bunch of methods. :)

Falcon does (nearly) all the things, extremely well. Incredibly flexible.

edit: Okay, EZDrummer isn’t really a synth. Oh well.

It can certainly be described using meaningless terms but perhaps the difference is lost on someone of your limited intellect?

I load up a template for that side of the equation with the following bits and pieces...

BFD3 - Acoustic Drums
Battery 4 - Percussion & Hits

DUNE 1 & 2
Zebra 2
Rapture Pro
FM8
Charlatan
Kontakt 5 - Strings & Orchestral Instruments

Sometimes I'll add Massive,SynthMaster 2 or another couple of synths for different tonal colours, but I don't have many VSTi's or VST's installed these days...

Minimal Mickey has been having a digital detox and it's all good :)

For me, V Collection is the best option for preset surfing and tweaking. I like to use ANA 2 to create basic synth patches from scratch in the box (although I mainly use hardware synths for this purpose).

Overall, I find that simple patches I create from scratch typically work better for me than those big and beautiful presets, and I could easily make do with ANA 2 as my only synth (it just wouldn't be as much fun).

I just picked up Pigments 2 @ 75% discount and ordered a Roli Seabord Block to go along with it (Pigments 2 has MPE support). I'm very excited to see what this combo will bring in terms of fresh new sounds and inspiration!
