So I was in windows anyway since I wanted to run our unit tests in CI and while I was in there I looked at energyXT, doing the debugging output I suggest in the issue above.
Basically: energyXT is never dispatching the `effEditOpen` message to surge. So we never open a window. There's no canDo which it sends which we are ignoring either. I saved my instrumented version in a branch. But basically: do any of you know the energyXT devs and would you like to invite them to hop onto that GitHub issue? I don't see anything I could do to fix it otherwise.

Now that we started a new year, in fact a new decade: will Shortcircuit also be open-sourced eventually? It would be a shame if such a great sampler is lost forever.

Jørgen Aase (the dev) has abandoned energyxt a long time ago unfortunately. So seems this issue wont be resolved. But i will try surge v 1.5 which should work according to layzer. The latest version do work in Reaper so its not that big of a dealbaconpaul wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 5:17 pm https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/surge/issues/190

Actually, there are different ways of defining the beginning and ending of a decade, it depends on the calendar paradigm you reference.
But let's not get completely OCD here and rather focus on the topic: bring back Shortcircuit please!

Our calendar starts from the birth of Jesus, right? But when you're born, you are 0 y.o., not 1 y.o., that would be only after 1 year has passed. First goes 0 to 1 (first interval), then 1 to 2 (second interval). It's a strange idea to count decade from beginning of the second year (xxx1).
And yes, OPENSOURCE SHORTCIRCUIT!

You should revise your arithmetics. When you are born, you immediately enter your FIRST year of life (not year 0, year 1). When you celebrate your birthday, you are in fact celebrating the completion of your FIRST year, and the entering in you SECOND year of life. So, yeah, there is no year 0, you are in year 1 from the first second of the first day up to second 60 of the last day. Then you enter your SECOND year, and so on. You only complete a DECADE when you reach the last second of the TENTH year (not the NINTH year). Therefore, you only enter a new decade in the begining of your ELEVENTH year.dtrq wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:12 am Our calendar starts from the birth of Jesus, right? So, the first decade of the XXI century went from 2001 up to 2010. The second decade goes from 2011 up to 2020. And the THIRD decade goes from 2021 up to 2030.
Just count your fingers: You start at 1, and go up to 10 (not from 0 to 9). If it was as you say, then the first decade after Jesus was born would only have NINE years (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) since, according to you year 10 already belonged to the second decade.
This is arithmetics 101, and should be understood by anyone from 6 up...

Then why are you having such problems with it.fmr wrote: This is arithmetics 101, and should be understood by anyone from 6 up...![]()
Its really simple:
Year 1 is from 00 to 01
Year 2 is from 01 to 02
Year 3 is from 02 to 03
Year 4 is from 03 to 04
Year 5 is from 04 to 05
Year 6 is from 05 to 06
Year 7 is from 06 to 07
Year 8 is from 07 to 08
Year 9 is from 08 to 09
Year 10 is from 09 to 10
And then it starts over.
Year 1 is from 10 to 11
Year 2 is from 11 to 12
Year 3 is from 12 to 13
Year 4 is from 13 to 14
Year 5 is from 14 to 15
Year 6 is from 15 to 16
Year 7 is from 16 to 17
Year 8 is from 17 to 18
Year 9 is from 18 to 19
Year 10 is from 19 to 20
And then it starts over again.
Year 1 is from 20 to 21
Year 2 is from 21 to 22
Year 3 is from 22 to 23
Year 4 is from 23 to 24
Year 5 is from 24 to 25
Year 6 is from 25 to 26
Year 7 is from 26 to 27
Year 8 is from 27 to 28
Year 9 is from 28 to 29
Year 10 is from 29 to 30
And then it starts over again.
Year 1 is from 30 to 31
Year 2 is from 31 to 32
Year 3 is from 32 to 33
Year 4 is from 33 to 34
Year 5 is from 34 to 35
Year 6 is from 35 to 36
Year 7 is from 36 to 37
Year 8 is from 37 to 38
Year 9 is from 38 to 39
Year 10 is from 39 to 40
And so forth.
Obviously the end of year 10 also always marks the beginning of year 1 of the following decade so you get the picture...

00 what? to 01 what? If it's year 1 it's year 1. Time is a continuum.ENV1 wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 11:24 amThen why are you having such problems with it.fmr wrote: This is arithmetics 101, and should be understood by anyone from 6 up...![]()
Its really simple:
Year 1 is from 00 to 01
And if you are referring to the Gregorian calendar, actually before year 1 AD it was year 1 BC (there was never a year 0)
So, you said it yourself: "the end of year 10". So much so for the END of year 20. It happens that the year 20 is just starting, so we didn't start the new decade yet. We will in the END of this year - which will be the beginning of 2021.ENV1 wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 11:24 am Obviously the end of year 10 also always marks the beginning of year 1 of the following decade so you get the picture...
I have no problems with it, and apparently neither have you, since you just said the same thing I did.

Irrelevant because its beside the point.fmr wrote: 00 what? to 01 what?
(It could be 2000-2001 or 1950-1951 or anything else, its unimportant.)
Nope, thats exactly wrong. Like i already outlined above, the first year of each decade starts at x0, not x1, i.e. the first year in this decade is from 2020 to 2021 (not 2021 to 2022) and the tenth/last year will be from 2029 to 2030, which will then complete the decade of the 20s and simultaneously start the decade of the 30s.fmr wrote: It happens that the year 20 is just starting, so we didn't start the new decade yet. Just think about it again and im sure it will come to you.
