That IS an impressive listing and stunning resume! And the sounds in Unify reflect that level of quality and competence! Even the way he plays with the layers and effects in the videos show such an exuberance and love of craft! This affected my choice to support this effort - this is the kind of devs and ideas I want to associate with! So much so, I'm excited to see what banks and patches John creates for the future of Unify! And application updates appear to have a beautiful forward path as well!

I'm not a developer, but I believe this is a good place to get going with Catalina requirements.

How does Unify handle a situation where you don't have one of the plugins used?
e.g. you load a 6 layer Unify patch, but one layer is a Serum patch and you don't own Serum.
Does the Unify patch still load, but with a layer missing or greyed out, or not load with/without an error?
Is it possible to make a Unify patch that names substitutes for missing plugins, like a web page stylesheet where a font tag can name a number of font faces so if you don't have Serum it could name a close match in Pigments 2 and finally a usable sound in the plugins that come with Unify itself? Obviously with some way of showing the user that they are seeing a substitute.

I don't think any of the patches in Unify use any outside plugins. John demos a few in the videos to show how cool they can be, but I don't think any of the patches in Unify have that focus!? I could be wrong, of course. I think I've played all 400 patches, and I don't remember any missing parts.

Yes, I bought it- there are no presets for anything other than the free internal content.
Reminds me a lot of Kore.
Has potential, no brainier for the price just as an instrument with internal content and VST host, but if it gets support it could be what everyone is imagining...pluginguru certainly haS enough presets for commercial VSTs to get things started...I was hoping they would have included a few, but I am sure this is coming.

Oh I know they said the initial release only has patches using the free plugins released that come with Unify, but was interested to know what happens in the scenario I asked about - further along the line when they start bringing out patch libraries that can utilise other plugins.SciFiArtMan wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:59 am I don't think any of the patches in Unify use any outside plugins. In addition to this, I see Laurent Verronéz aka Airwave also did patch design.tony10000 wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:26 am For those not aware of John (Skippy) Lehmkuhl (co-developer of Unify and owner of PluginGuru), he is a world-class sound designer and has worked on voicing these products:

He is/was one of the most known Belgian producers in the once famous trance scene.
He's produced classics such as innerspace, save me, above the sky.

I tested this. If the plugin isn't available, it generates an error message and the name of the plugin appears in red. It loads the patch and you can substitute it for another plugin once loaded.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:00 am How does Unify handle a situation where you don't have one of the plugins used?

Cheers for that. At least you can still open the patch, that was my fear that you could be locked out of old presets when you lost access to a particular plugin.tony10000 wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 12:23 pmI tested this. I like your idea of suggesting a replacement patch from available plugins. At first mention, I thought this was a tall order, but by using patch tags it could be a possibility with reasonable success. Would be interesting to see the idea explored!

I'm assuming I can use komplete kontrol, open and build a patch in Unify, save the preset in nks format, and then navigate to all my saved sounds using my kk midi controller? If so that is a true game changer and I will need to buy immediately.
I know kk is another layer on top of the layer Unify creates but it seems like it would be worth it if I can be hands on and just cycle through unique presets I created.
