I hear ya Meffy. Rush has been my favorite band since about 1978. They were and are the biggest influence on my Love of Music. RIP Neil. You are still the best drummer ever.

Very sad news indeed. As I've said more than once today, it was so completely unexpected to hear that a member of Rush had passed away this soon. They became my favorite band in 1985 and I'll always feel their influence. I'm still just kind of in the shocked stage and haven't quite wrapped my head around it yet.

One of the most inspirational musicians ever... RIP :(
Music, just like tortilla, is no fun without a bit of "cheese". :clown:

Over the years I’ve been able to learn Geddy’s bass lines and Alex’s guitar parts, but it would take a hell of a long time for me to be able to even start drumming like Neil.

He certainly deserves all the accolades he received as a drummer.

Bought my first Rush album in 1982 and was lucky enough to see them live four times. Every show was amazing and the highlight was always Neil's solo. He was my drumming hero.

67 is way too young to die of something as awful as brain cancer. Man, this is just terrible news.

Me too, on the strength of taping New World Man off the radio... Though I think I actually got Permanent Waves first, changed everything.

Moving Pictures followed by Grace Under Pressure.. life changing music but it was the drumming that blew me away. Actually it was an article on Modern Drummer written by Neil Peart about the making of Moving Pictures that turned me on to wanting to find out who this man and band was. He was a legend and sorely missed.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

That's the one, thanks for posting. I'll have a read, reminisce, feel sad and watch some YouTube of great drumming.

Never got into Rush, but tons of respect for this awesome drummer. What a sad ending to a life that had its share of tragedy.
