Yes. I'd call it Soundmaker. That would show everyone that playtime is over!

He should have called it 'free porn'.KenjiDeVries wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:18 pmMy guess is pure marketing purpose. People searching for the avengers movies (which had their hype back then until now) will get search results for the plugin too.

An avenger is a person who has obtained vengeance.
Makes you wonder what the original perceived insult/injury was that started all of this. When will it end? Violence is a vicious circle.

This does happen and I despise such practices. Search engine "optimization" gone rogue to the extreme. Of course those rats just think of themselves as being clever.KenjiDeVries wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:18 pmMy guess is pure marketing purpose. But I'm not sure what kind of reasoning would have led to pulling the trick in this case, because how large percentage of Avengers fans are potential new $200 VI stray purchasers? I'd wager to guess not a substantial amount. Not only that, but you should pick a name-mangling target whose demographic is likely to have the fraction of potential new customers over-represented within itself for it to be a sensible strategic move. On the other hand if you already spend hundreds on VI's then what most probably happens you'll likely learn the names and end up searching them on the web, and as a vendor you'd prefer them to find your VI as easy & fast as possible instead of thousands of hits for something completely unrelated.

You guys don't want complaints about bugs or the copy protection mess or the expansion prices, no mention of missing communication or support, no product reviews of needed new monitors or graphics cards. So whats the problem now if people think about the name? What else would you like to talk about? Let us here

Perhaps the negativity in the name is infectious.

There still seem to be a lot of people selling Avenger now in the marketplace, shame it went this way because of copy protection....also killed this once useful thread.

I'd been eyeing Avenger for a while and when it was on sale again I did a web search for "vengeance sound avenger drm" which led me right to the CodeMeter controversy. Despite - or because of - all the rabble I was unable to find out what was so bad about CodeMeter compared to every other DRM out there, so I went and bought it anyway.
I got the impression that the primary issue was that the existing customers felt betrayed and inconvenienced by the DRM being implemented for something they had already paid for (sometimes in hefty amounts), and I can easily sympathize with that. It's easier to buy into something knowing beforehand that it comes with annoyances than them being imposed on you retroactively after committing. I don't have their problem - I have my own [smaller] problem of compromising to allow yet another annoyance into my system, but at least I could make my decision with that knowledge.
I'm hoping they will allow eLicenser to authorize Avenger in the future, and that if they do so on moving to the next major version I will at least get a reasonable upgrade price. Not because eLicenser is better (is it? I don't know.), but because I'm already using Steinberg software and one DRM is better than two.

Don't I have Codemeter running to authorise Reason??? Can't say it has been a problem or something that I am actually aware of.

Yes, I am still using Avenger and didn't throw my dummy out of the cot when they introduced this new protection, but I already have e-licensers and ilok, I didn't realy want a 3rd background dongle (and I have to say of the 3 this is the one I like the least for various reason that have been discussed by others here Infinium)stearine wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:46 am I'm hoping they will allow eLicenser to authorize Avenger in the future, and that if they do so on moving to the next major version I will at least get a reasonable upgrade price. With the recent updates an for the recent bargain price, it should have been a no-brainer, its a pity the copy protection has made a lot of people stay away (and some users even leave).

I have some other Vengeance plugins that use eLicenser. It’d be nice if that was the copy protection option for Avenger in the future.
Either way, will try to sell it once the sale ends.
