Is it theft or inspiration? Or something else? Or are my ears totally useless?

I don't hear any of Never Say Never in that Elastica song but I do hear a lot of Wire's Three Girl Rhumba, and I'm not the only one, apparently -

When I first heard this I thought it was a cover, the chords and melody in the chorus sounds just like something else, but I can't put my finger on it. But I'm thinking of some '80s soft rock song in the style of Icehouse or Steve Winwood.

okay, are some of you people using some kind of fancy software to detect the similarities coz some of these conclusions are "wow", to me at least.

not even close? i think supersmall cloth moths are living in my ears, laying eggs or whatever. led zeppelin's music doesn't seem to evacuate them.

Was just coming to say this. It’s not the only Wire tune Elastica jacked either - same deal with the choruses of Elastica’s Line Up and Wire’s I am the Fly.
