i read somewhere that the golden age of songwriting happened in the years 1965-1975.
so, please, how about post the songs that you wish you had written and also the year that it was written?
i'll start with this:
1967

I can't choose one. If I had to, it would be 'Yesterday.' I could live like a king off the royalties for that alone.

This one (yeah, I know it's super self-serving posting a song I co-wrote, but f**k it, this song for me in so many ways is perfection. It's everything i got into music for and I had always wished I could write a song as transcendent as this, plus the people I created it with are beautiful souls, and if I had to exist in a vegetative state with one song to listen to for eternity it would be this one, I could get lost in it forever

I'm envious of pretty much every song I like.
To name a few, though.
Anything on Yanni's "Tribute" Album, 1997
2015 (I think)
1995
1992 probably my favorite metal song of all time tbh. Great vocals, badass riff, stellar guitar tone and those solos (build up to the second one is so f**king epic) just get me every time.
1999 honestly I love all of Max Martin's work from back when

“ We cower in our shelters
With our hands over our ears
Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years
An earthquake hits the theater
But the operetta lingers
Then the piano lid comes down
And breaks his f**king fingers
It's a miracle”
