I bought Adobe Audition because I liked Cool Edit... then I left Audition for Reaper... after paying $500 for Audition... and at least back then Adobe made it incredibly hard to sell your license... so I lost some cash there.

Cool Edit Pro! Wow, is that still around. I loved dynamic delay. They removed that from Audition,wtf!!

I bought cool edit pro. After adobe bought out CEP i was given an update to audition. I’ve been using it ever since. I just told a fellow noisemaker that CEP/Audition is the program i know best. I use it every day (for editing not recording or mixing.)

CEP/Audition was one of the last "buy the program disc in a big box" applications I have. Upgraded from AA2 to 3 for free when Adobe "abandonwared" it along with all of their version 3 production suite products. I still use it for editing & format conversion.

On a serious note, I was on the beta team when Syntrillium sold to Adobe and transitioned Cool Edit Pro to Audition. For what it's worth, CEP still installs and runs fine on Windows 10, which is insane when you think about it. It came out almost 18 years ago!
