Im not a keyboardist but i do play keyboard when writing melodies sketches, i dont find any problem to quantize few mil seconds, also when you dont need your super accurate keyboard punches you can change buffer size.zvenx wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:36 pm Curious. Are u a keyboardist or u play some keyboards? At 64 I rarely have to quantize. At 256 I would have to quantize.

I am new to Avenger. Maybe that is why I don’t have much of an issue with the license protection. I only get cpu issues with demanding patches such as granular or VA patches with long tails when I am playing moderately complex passages. That is with a Sandy Bridge i7. It seems Avenger is more cpu-hungry in Live than Logic, but just by a few percent.

IMO - and yes this is pure guesswork on my part - but new customer or not, this experience actually speaks for around 95% of Avenger users.HTT wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2020 10:50 am I am new to Avenger. And @noiseboyuk. Are you a keyboardist?

zvenx - I'm pretty rubbish its true - failed Grade 5 piano. I have to quantise at any buffer setting....
Working at 48k 256 on my Babyface, Cubase reports an input latency of circa 6ms. Working in 4/4 at 120bpm, those figures mean I'll be playing 1/40th of a beat out. I just did a test out of curiosity hitting a note in time with a click. In practice with my terrible playing even just single notes I tend to hit notes between 1/40th and 1/20th early - clearly I'm going to get stuff-all benefit working lower than 256.
So maybe super-precise players would notice more than I. But I remember a discussion over at VI Control where pianists infinitely better than I reported much the same thing, that below 256 they found little difference in practice.

Surely you have to take the output buffer in to account too - since you'll be hearing what you played "late". I think that's what throws players off.Cubase reports an input latency of circa 6ms
I'm a guitarist and play through amp sims - so I definitely feel it when I hear the note "late" after I played it. I can go up to 10ms RTL, but after that it's definitely annoying.
6ms sounds *very* optimistic - even for just input latency @ 256 sample buffer size. I know RME drivers are good but...

Thanks for your perspective. Yeah, when I read all the complaints about this, that, and the other thing about Avenger and my experience being quite different from the complainers I wondered what was up.noiseboyuk wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2020 10:55 amIMO - and yes this is pure guesswork on my part - but new customer or not, this experience actually speaks for around 95% of Avenger users.HTT wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2020 10:50 am I am new to Avenger. I also understand angry customers as I have been vocally critical of products in the past.

Ah yes, that's probably true. Either way I can't notice it below 256. Even playing guitar seems ok to me - definitely notice 512 though.jbraner wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2020 12:47 pm Surely you have to take the output buffer in to account too - since you'll be hearing what you played "late". Interesting convo..... I guess bottom line we are all different.
I will look for that convo on vi-control. I am no Herbie Hancock, but I definitely can feel the difference between 64, 128 and 256.
Even recording some of the vocalist that I use often, they notice 256 with my lynx 2 c drivers on my pc.
Although a big part is it depends on your drivers. Not every 64/128/256 is equivalent to another system and another audio card.
Thanks

I also have avenger for long time, and have no problems. of course it depends how u use it. i try to use it as a synth, mainly for edm stuff. if i want to play piano , i would rather load something similar to kontakt.

Tested it in 3 different daws (ableton, bitwig, studio one) and the results are same - clicks and pops and some kind of feedback? as if two different midi notes being triggered are also triggering each other
Such a bummer...

I can confirm this with Cubase. I hope it will be fixed soon...klovne wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2020 7:30 pmnvm still existsklovne wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:18 pm Using the drums part with midi being triggered from daw (instead of the inbuilt drum sequencer) and each drum sound being routed into a separate audio track via multi out is completely unusable and broken.
