Go back to read last few pages. No one is arguing about subjective taste. So your concern is irrelevant.
Design has its trend and it actually expires in parallel with the technology evolving. Recent revisiting of the 3D element in the UI is pushed by both perspective. You can grasp the idea by reading those site. a b c d If you don't want to read from that "source" google yourself. Plenty of articles.

Don't attempt to put your word in my mouth. As I said in the previous post, what I don't like is skeuomorphism not Live's UI. What I said was ableton's flat is bad. The reasoning behind my opinion can be explained by these articles. You can of course come up your own argument to them. Sum up your idea and build your own theory to counterargue this trend.

If you don't like the definition of old and new paradigm 2010's 2020's you can keep it as "old" and "new". It's just for convenience to distinguish them easily in the context.

You can keep saying those UI/UX trend is just irrelevant and conspiracy theory. But it's all over the places in your face :hihi: unless you are living in the cave.
Preference isn't related to whether we objectively evaluate something good or bad. I like candy bar regardless of it being low quality and bad for health :hihi:

I know a guy who makes good music in Soundforge. He's doing it fast and with joy while you continue to switching your DAW ))

So now I am back to Ableton and happy I did

Post

I found Ableton boring and uninspiring to look at. For my knackered eyesight the UI is too small and fiddly and zooming in on MBP isn't practical. Just opening it with a blank project made my fans spin.

Switched to Bitwig and can zoom the UI in and out on the fly with a shortcut, it's super nice to look at, the devices look great and it doesn't make my fans bug out.

I still like Ableton for some Max devices and things like the probability packs so i'll be keeping both and having best of both worlds.

Weird and funny that I find it exactly the opposite, I like Ableton clean and organized UI while I find Bitwig very uninspiring and looking like it was designed back in the 90s, but it's a matter of tastes I guess.

I am using Ableton and Reason but I think I'll upgrade my Reason copy to Reason 11 and end up using the Reason Plugin Rack so I will only use Ableton as my main DAW

People make great music with horsehide stretched over an old drum. They do it fast and with joy while you play with your PC!

Aren't we such geniuses for pointing this out!

You got my point anyway ) I just wanted to mention that we have brilliant, super technological handy instruments. But most of the time people just comparing instead of accepting DAW limitations and make music. Sounds like nagging but other words, people try to collect "the best" hiking equipment without even going to the forest ) Personally, my best hiking trips were when I went with a torn tent

If you think Ableton looks like that you need to get your eyes tested...
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Now Bitwig compared to the DAW I used back in the 90s...
