That's the one. Though I don't show up as being quoted, it was me they were responding to. I could certainly take a brief, splashy attack transient as heard in the 'good' notes in my example, but the prolonged "bwoeyeom" lasting almost a second is just so rough to me.Whywhy wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:45 pm @Cron :

Obviously small quirks in a synth's behaviour can either put us off or make us interested depending on the sounds or workflows we like, but this sounds so much bigger than a quirk to me that I can't make sense of why only I seem to find it so objectionable. We'll have endless pages of lively discussion about the minute sonic differences between The Legend and a Minimoog, yet I seem to be the only person perceiving a massive clanger in a 75-page thread? It's one of the reasons I ask what people are doing to work around or mitigate it. My head is thinking "well people love this synth so they must be doing something to work around this 'obvious problem.'"
Does everyone else just straight-up like it? Fair play if so. There certainly doesn't seem to be any clamour for a fix. It's just genuinely surprising to me because this is KVR and I've seen overwhelmingly negative reactions to quirks which barely register in everyday use when compared to this.

Ok, so the riddle is solved: Roli in their non-existing wisdom decided, that they no longer support Windows 8.1.
But instead of CHECKING the OS when installing and making me aware of it, one get's an error about some midi driver or just a non-functioning app.
And it's not just the new Roli Connect, but also the Dashboard one needs for the Roli Seaboard Block settings.
So I also can't update the firmware because these mindblowingly clever people decided to bind that update to the dashboard version...
And they don't seem to mention it anywhere...
Support after some weeks sent me a link to an old Dashboard version to "solve" it.
Which of course when I start it offers me the same update that doesn't work on Windows 8.1...
Let's see if the next Cypher or Strobe update will also stop functioning on Windows 8.1...
I don't know, I get unbelievable tired of companies like this.
Well, live and learn...

Looks nice but we really need the mod bug fixing
Also is it best to buy these from Roli or FXPansion? I bought all mine from FXPansion before ROLI even existed but had to get ROLI Support to add them to my ROLI account so they would show in ROLI Player, but if I buy them from ROLI will they only show in ROLI player or also in Cypher?

That's actually truly impressive work showing what a great sound designer can do with a great synth
I seriously hope Roli/Fxpansion get their act together. Would be so damn sad to see them close down because of an unsuccessful merger.

Tested this out - as I feared if I buy from ROLI I install through ROLI connect but it only appears to install for Cypher when used in ROLI Studio Player - I must contact their support to see how to load these in Cypher 2 directly - they really need to be better coordinated between the 2 parts of the same company.aMUSEd wrote: Thu May 14, 2020 8:35 am

Worked out how to add them manually to Cypher 2. ROLI Connect has a downloads folder in /Users/username/Library/Application Support/ROLI/ROLI Connect/downloads which you can search for the installer. The installer extension is .rpkg but I realised this is just a RAR file so rename it and you can browse the contents. Extract the presets to the Cypher /Users/username/Documents/fxpansion/Cypher2/Collections and rename to the bank name (because they extract as 'presets'). Then open Cypher 2.
Don't know the Windows paths but it shouldn't hard to work out.

Without reading the 70+ pages here, what is the mod bug you are speaking of? I downloaded the demo version today and want to see/hear what happens. Are there steps I can take to reproduce it?

FYI - Fxpansion said it was being worked on in another thread.

I really wish there was a way to speed up the response of the knobs. I sometimes have to re-grab it three times for one tweak.

Cypher2 upgrade from Strobe2 is 30% off. Is it worth buying Cypher2, especially when one hasn't even spent time with Strobe2?
