I just heard from a friend that Lyle Mays has passed away today...

That is so sad...

All of the music that he made was really special...

I hope that God gives him the number one piano and synth chair in the heavens

The Pat Metheny Group would have been nothing without Lyle's genius...

He was the power behind the throne

That's sad! Loved him in PMG and also had his solo cd's. Saw them in '94. Probably my favourite gig.

He was a keyboard master, I saw him live for the first time when I was about 20 and it blew me away.

Yep i’m with last two commenters. Love his solo stuff and was thrilled to see PMG (by both LM and with PM) when i was about 20. He had a unique style that really weaved into the bands music.
Not sure about the number 1 seat though, that might be Franz Liszt. Hopefully there’s a giant cloud of pianos for all the greats.
