Man, he made so much great music, and pretty much reconstructed mediocre tracks from scratch to make them the great tracks that they became. A greater remixer, but so much more.

Apparently there is almost nothing of the band on ‘Loaded’ other than Bobby Gillespie - that was pretty much all Andrew Weatherall...

i remember various articles along the lines of "oh no! rock band hires dance dj to produce album"
in the music press, then it came out and was an almost instant classic
