Definately - Wish You Were Here is tops - especially the title track and Welcome to the Machine. But I'm less fond of Animals and highly rate More, which was the first Floyd album I heard back when I was at school - beautiful album with a great range of moods and sounds. I also love Atom Heart Mother which rarely get's mentioned.

Division Bell's only redeeming feature was the flashing LED on the spine of the CD case.

That was Pulse - the live one that sucked cause there was no Roger Waters... Division Bell was the one with the two stone faces at each other that sucked cause there was no Roger Waters. :hihi:

The rating system seems interesting so - here it goes:

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - :)
A Saucerful of Secrets - :) :)
More - :) :) :) :)
Ummagumma - :)
Zabriskie Point - still haven't been able to find a CD copy - if anyone has and is willing to sell - PM me please
Atom Heart Mother - :) :) :) :)
Relics - :) (Biding My Time is amazing, rest is recycled)
Meddle - :) :) :) :)
Obscured by Clouds - :) :) :)
Dark Side of the Moon - :) :) :) :)
Wish You Were Here - :) :)
Animals - :) :) :) :)
The Wall - :) :) :)
The Final Cut - :) :) :) :) :)
A Momentary Lapse of Reason - :(
The Division Bell - :( (only listenable song was "High Hopes")

Waters' solo stuff is amazing, especially The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking! But I am very much looking forward to his new opera "Ca Ira" as I have already heard the Overture and it promises a great deal!

Sorry, sickle - I meant less good.

I won't argue about 'the division bell' but to me there are several good&interesting songs on it - a lot more than on 'mometary lapse..' tbh (says Jens whose favourite PF album is still 'meddle' (because it contains 'echoes') followed closely by 'wish you were here' and dsotm)

Just AVOID the FILM (more that is). Utter crap (but some cool settings nonetheless). Atom Heart Mother is the most persistently under rated album. And I think if we were all to be perfectly, brutally, weepilly honest with ourselves, as much as we don't want to face up to this basic fact, pf lost it half way through the Wall and continued to grope in the dark through momentary lapse of reason and beyond. I still think Richard Wright's keyboard playing gets better and better as I listen to the early albums. 2c.
I cannot play an instrument. I cannot remember melodies. I cannot sing. I have bad timing. I know way too little about counterpoint.

Nick Mason's a great drummer in the same way that Timmy Mallet's a great singer.

I've never seen the film - I would like to though just to see for myself - I did quite enjoy Zabriskie Point for all it's self indulgence it was very pretty in places (and sexy). I felt Animals marked the beginning of the end. Waters self indulgence and Gilmore's inability to come up with original guitar riffs started to bore me. There are bits of it I can enjoy occasionally - same with The Wall but nothing could top Wish you were here for me.

As far as musicianship goes if I was to be brutally honest I'd have to say none of them is that brilliant in terms of raw talent. But raw talent is not always the most important indicator of creativity - it's what you do with what you have and how it's put together as a whole that counts the most and they have made some outstanding and innovative music - as well as some utter drivel at times.

err, guys..

I don't know what album you're all talking about, this DSOTM...

A certain band called Pink Floyd released an album called 'The Dark Side of the Moon', but this one you lot are on about must be a bootleg or something..
