Pain and frustration are subjective, but you can't deny that doing things in Falcon requires a whole lot of mouse clicks and tabs and fiddling around. I sold it and moved on because it was just _too slow_ to experiment on, which I used it for. Nowadays I use Bitwig for that and the difference is just ... very apparent (to me).
UVI Falcon, not a great sampler ?

Same here. I felt like i was battling with the UI to create patches. As a preset player it was amazing. The potential for sound design, also amazing. It’s the only piece of software that i’ve sold.
It is very subjective.

Me too. It certainly isn't an easy to use software instrument, but none of the big sampling synthesizer workstations is (to me, there are three: Falcon, HALion and Kontakt, by alphabetical order). The more feature packed a software is, the more it will be hard to learn. Sure, the GUI may turn it a little easier, but it can't make miracles.
Falcon GUI may look intimidating at first, but I think it is well designed to allow a good navigation and operation of such a complex beast.

It wasn’t the complexity so much, it just “felt” like things were kind of clunky in the way of constructing patches. Perhaps i will give it another try, it was just released when i used it.

I played a little with it yesterday, it's mostly intuitive and can generate good results. But as said, Undo is something essential for a fun workflow in my eyes. This should be on top of their Todo list, but isn't at the moment as I just heard back from the support.
Anyone who wants this feature should mail them through support and add +1 to this request.

What do people except from an instrument you can basically do ANYTHING with in a modular way.
Do anything with just one mouse click?
Just adapt to the workflow - UVI Falcon is very well laid out and hands down awesome.

the main obstacle for me was just starting a basic patch.CrystalWizard wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 11:57 am it just “felt” like things were kind of clunky in the way of constructing patches.
right click to start new program. right click inside keyzone to start new synth/sample patch.
the thing is legitimately mega-powerful and top of the line. but if you're a psycho whore for just acquiring new stuff endlessly instead of digging into what you already spent thousands of dollars on and really enjoying it, learning it, and embracing it, you're shit out of luck.
trust me, I'm the psycho whore who just spends money. but it's not Falcon's fault that I have money I want to keep mindlessly paying people for magic bullets for. which, of course, don't exist.
that said I'm still buying that Emu 6400 tomorrow

*a company that doesn't respect their customers
Falcon doesn't seem like it was designed by core UVI people. I like UVI but 99% of their products are sample banks which are pretty cool but mad overpriced.
Falcon has hints of what I would consider in all my time using VSTs some kind of really legitimately powerful high tech DSP. That's just me, call me names but to my ear the thing just feels sonically on another level. It feels like hardware in a way nothing else I have does.

It’s way beyond anything else UVI has done. All vstis are made by programmers They just have different workflows.
No doubt it sounds great. I really wanted to like it. There’s so much it can do. Just trying to put all the cool stuff together made me pull my hair. Something about where to add and remove modules and how certain structures were built. This is after i rtfm. As i said perhaps i need to try it again, or maybe invest more time in Reaktor...

Maybe I can give a little advice to all Falcon owners: make custom programs and save them for future needs. For example, I have “Granular”, “Wavetable” and “Analog” programs.
You can recreate almost any synth on earth inside Falcon, mostly it takes about 5-8 minutes to copy all the modules (including modulators, effects and macros) and save as new program for future needs.
Now you don’t have to suffer when you need to decide which module to choose, just work in these borders and if you really feel that you need to add something more - you still have endless ocean of Falcon stuff.
I know that “Falcon feel” bro. But remember that this isn’t a synth - this thing contains all the synth modules that you can imagine, so for me it’s very logical way to use it: create synths instead of start from scratch every time
When I see another tasty new synth on the market and want to buy it, first of all I’m recreating it in Falcon and it always successful. I make it comfortable for using and save it. A couple of days ago I made my own Padshop 2 with some additional twists ))

Yes, i used to do that (or attept it) in Reaktor. I honestly thought i wouldn’t buy anything else.

That was not my impression at all. With many mouse clicks and the occasionally wrong mouse clicks that needed more mouse clicks to correct. Everyone is different. I’m glad Falcon exists for people who get on with it.

Actually, I've been doing that myself since I have it. What always wondered me is why doesn't UVI do that. A special Template category where they could recreate some basic synths already assembled, and with some descriptive document texts would be of great help for beginners.
