Best Delay Plugin?

Unless I want to do something crazy with Tantra or Movement, I'm not really too fussy. That said, if someone wants a recommendation, I find it hard to go past WA Production's Mutant Delay. The built-in ducking makes it great for vocals, as does the "B" mode for delay filtering, which ramps the filtering in over time. Those two features allow you to have lots of audible delay without necessarily muddying up your mix like a lot of delays can. I quite like its GUI, too, and it goes nicely with Mutant Reverb and Vocal Splitter.
One thing I will say about delays is that all the subtlety you hear when you solo a channel is mostly lost in a mix, which is why I don't worry too much about which delay I use most of the time. By the time you put it in a mix, they all sound pretty much the same. Obviously if you're doing dub or something, it's going to matter more but for most of us, I don't think it's a very important decision.

I often try other delays, but, I always get back to Replika XT. As has been mentioned, it has quite a high CPU footprint, which is the only real niggle I have with it though. Sounds fantastic, is very easy to use, and has a great GUI.

For me it’s Soundtoys echoboy for years. Quite cheap, but imo really a studio staple plugin. Check it out!

Being a complete delay plugin junkie, I have to admit that I probably own more delays than soft synths (or at least really close to it). After buying Acustica Audio Lemon though a year or so ago, there is really no turning back. I do still use my favourites though, Imperial delay, Colour copy sees a lot of use lately, and Sandman pro for crazy stuff. Echoboy or H-Delay even though really great do not see much use the last year or so. Imperial Delay is really really great! I have tried Valhalla Delay and I loved it. Just did not get around to buy it yet. Probably the only one I do not own that I should.

What sort of music do you make?

I think there is no one delay. Wave's H-Reverb, Valhalla Delay and D16 Sigmund are my go tos, but I also love Traction's Delay for Waveform 10.

Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!

H-Delay is a good delay, but is has only one algorithm that emulates a tape delay. Obviously, it doesn't fit well in every music style and every instrument.chuna wrote: Sun Jun 04, 2017 2:28 am I am currently using H-Delay by Waves but saw Sandman Pro and was impressed.
Are there any others that I could consider?
Thank you.
You can go with plugin per delay type and end up with several plugins, but probably you should consider an all-in-one plugin like Soundtoys Echoboy or Valhalla Delay.
Echoboy has more emulations, and Valhalla Delay has a better diffusion that does reverb and a pitch shift.
They both sound very similar when parameters are matched.
Other type of delay is a creative delay, like UVI Relayer or Sandman Pro, which can do weird experimental stuff.
So if you get two delays, one of each type, it will cover 99.9% of all delay related needs.

Same here. Lemon is really on a whole other level. I just wish they updated it, since it's the only AA plug-in that's still on an old Core version, and is still laggy here. But damn, it's good.Sindikhate wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2020 12:06 am After buying Acustica Audio Lemon though a year or so ago, there is really no turning back.

There are quite a few others too (Green, Lime, Crimson etc) Lemon is ok here. Had a couple of crashes in the beginning with it but not anymore. I just wish it had more options. But for these other uses I have got another 30 delaysdionenoid wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2020 2:14 pmSame here. Lemon is really on a whole other level. Has anyone tried the AAS Objeq Delay? Sounds great on the videos.

I had it but i sold it. Its a nice delay but the physical modelling aspect felt under-utilised, iirc i wanted to load it as instrument and control the tuning of the physical part and it couldn’t be done, and the physical part was more like a “some flavour of filter”.Sindikhate wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:00 pm Has anyone tried the AAS Objeq Delay?
