Any Moody Blues fans out there. I use to be a huge fan during the late 60's. My faves being; Search fo the Lost Chord, To Our Children's Children's Children, and Threshold of a Dream. Woke up in the middle of the night last night and had one of there tunes in my head, dreamt that I was singing it to a girlfriend. Have not listened to them in a long time. Those Melotrons sounds were gorgeous and the guitar playing from Justin Hayward were inspirational to me.

Definitely a fan, especially their older Mike Pindar era material (I'm a total sucker for that gobs-o-reverb-making-everything-sound-a-million-miles-away kind of sound on the Mellotrons, the vocals...
)
I always thought "The Story in Your Eyes" has a great guitar riff and would make a GREAT metal cover....surprised nobody ever did it. Hmmm....maybe I should...

One of my fav bands from the past. Their guitar work lyrics and vocals were excellent.
Funny you should say that as only last week there was a news article on the radio about diaries. As a fan you can guess what I was singing.
Time to give them a blast again, thanks.
Pleasant memories and also sing along stuff! Something a bit rare these days.
You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"

Days of Future Passed...long-time Moodies fan here
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

To our children's children's children was my most listened to LP. I am still a very big fan. I got all their albums and still play them a lot.
Their last album "Strange times" is also very good.
I hope they will do some more

A close friend of mine (like myself, a fan for over many years) wrote this amusing review of "To Our Children's Children's Children":

Alas, the review site has not really taken off like I had hoped, but his review is terrific and funny...
Long Live Mr Bunko!

I always liked 'Every Good Bot Deserves Favour', especially the opening/ One More Time To Live, could easily be one of the best 'protest' songs written.
I also liked things like 'The Story in Your Eyes', 'Tuesday Afternoon', man, all of it. Did you ever get the 'Caught Live +5' LP? It was them live just after 'Children's' came out (they open with Gypsy), great LP (tho' the 5 studio tracks are a bit pants..). I also like Octave, 'The Day we meet again' being one of those great tears in eyes nostagia tracks!
I kind of lost track of them through the 80's, I bought Sur La Mer, but didn't think much of it.
I had most of the solo albums too, 'Hopes, Wishes and Dreams','From Mighty Oaks' , 'Natural Avenue', the 'BlueJays' one, etc. They were OK, all very homely, warm fuzzy stuff!
Some great passages - Peak Hour would make for a great cover as well - I LOVE that organ solo! It's on the 'Caught Live' LP, and Graeme Edge does 2 rather large solos in it! (Actually, thinking of Edge, 'After You Came' is another great rocker!)
So, there we are. I concur that the 8 LPs of the
classic line up are the best, altho' I was singing 'Go Now' the other day to a collegue at work to wind him up!

Just stumbled across this old thread.
I was (am) a huge Moody Blues fan from the beginning of their career. It´s their ´67-´72 stuff I like most. Mainly "In search of the lost chord", "To our Children´s ..." and "Threshold of a dream (with this fantastic suite at the end of the album)" have all a strange mystical mood which I absolutely love.
The Moodies were the ones who made the mellotron (at these times a revolutionary instrument) really famous. Mike Pinder´s mellotron playing and Justin Hayward´s guitar playing and voice always deeply touch my soul.
For me nowadays they are one of the most underrated groups of the past. But I still love their music.
