HOLY f**k!!! Why am I just finding out now? I saw Gang of Four in November and it was the best gig I've been to in a very long time. They were on fire and the joint was packed (around 800 punters). I'd seen The Sisters of Mercy a week before and the contrast was stark - Sisters were just going through the motions but GoF were goin' off! I am feeling really gutted right now, Andy Gill was such a unique voice in a world of blandness.
For those who don't know, he was a huge influence on Red Hot Chilli Peppers and he produced a lot of their early music. He also did a lot of other production work in the 90's and this Century.

Very true, Bones....he was very influential on so many others. That era of Post Punk not only was great, creative and needed at it's time, but so many of the bands (Wire, The Fall, GoF, etc....list goes on and on) still are/were making vital stuff right till the end.
