I am just beginning to explore the world of skinsmanship in ST2.
I especially love some of the brush kits - really good fun trying to emulate a jazz drummer.
Now I read about the imminent arrival the I-map library - sounds interesting.
Can you advise (Squids) on the best way to go on this (i'm not, in case you hadn't guessed, a drummer) ?
Presumably this I-map library is going to better than any of the current drum capsules ?
Any pricing yet?

Actually, the Studio Drum Capsule is truly fantastic. It has the most flexible GM and IMap options we've ever done in a product. It's a 2 gig ST2 library. If you get it you won't be disappointed.
But, the other thing coming for ST2 format in IMap is "Studiophonik". This also has guitars, basses and other instruments. But there's even more drums but also a higher price. I'd start off with Studio Drum Capsule for now and see how you like it. It's not expensive but it is really good. It could easily sell for 3 times the price. Seriously. Don't let the low price give the wrong impression. Our customers have been VERY satisfied with the capsules. They do "take it up a notch" and they are a lot larger than was initially planned a year ago. More VFM now.

What about this:

Would this be the "ultimate" ?
How does it differ from the Drum Capsule ?
Any pricing yet ?

Pricing is TBA but it is probably about 5 times the price and 10 times the size! It is the "ultimate" in some ways for sure. It has completely different samples than the Studio Drum Capsule though. So, they'd complement each other nicely. I-Drums (actually has a different name when it is released.. slightly different anyway because of the product IDrum which is VERY different and I don't want anyone to confuse it) is NOT in SampleTank 2 format at all though. It will be in Giga 3, Kontakt and probably Battery 2. EXS24 and HALion most likely and maybe Mach 5 (if it streams). It might be done in Drum Nine if it streams as well.basic channel wrote:thanks

You got it. Ironically, it is distributed by the same people who distribute Vienna. That'd be ILIO.basic channel wrote:Ah...Squids wrote: Pricing is TBA but it is probably about 5 times the price and 10 times the size!![]()

The main version is less than 10 gigs most likely. But, we'll have a deluxe version with a great upgrade discount for the 40+gig version. There's even more coming because you guys know I did that session with Danny Gottlieb too. I've sampled more drums than you can imagine. I still have a massive stack of cymbals to sample from Danny's personal collection. In fact, when I am done some of them are going to be put up for sale on ebay. I bought a bunch of them myself and he gave me a signed Zildjian flat cymbal that is similar to one he used with Pat Metheny Group. It sounds amazingly crisp! I have to sample it. What a great guy. He's full of interesting knowledge about drums. We're making a drum BOOK actually (that would be sold in book stores). I'll tell you more about that later. But, it is full of great drum stories from famous drummers and also info about what they've used on classic records, miking drums, sampling drums and even mention of the I-Map (sure why not eh?Jeez wrote:Is that the rumoured 40gig drum library?Squids wrote:Pricing is TBA but it is probably about 5 times the price and 10 times the size! Forever,
Kim.
But, they're all good, just different. So, that's why the Studio Drum Capsule should not be overlooked. It is a bargain and has some of the best drum samples we've ever released. Then Studiophonik will have a selection from the same sessions as I-Drums (but different mics) and then the big "vienna of drums" as was previously described will be out before the end of the year or at least by NAMM. It will have a cool "depth" to it but it is on the high end price-wise (still great VFM as always however).
