I always find it funny how people are always saying that a certain plugin needs an update just because it hasn't been updated in a while. So I propose a 10 point scale describing how badly a plugin needs improvement.

0 would be something like a really good LA-2A emulation. It does what it should, and nobody can think of anything else it needs to do.

10 would be something which has bugs, is lacking modern features, and you can't compile a list fast enough of all the features people want. If Guitar Rig were buggy it would be a 10, but as it stands I would give it a 9.

Most emulations of hardware synths might fall in the 1-2 range.

Amp sim suites, unfortunately will fall on the high end of the range as the average guitar player can think of a dozen pedals that they should have modeled without breaking a sweat.

I think I'd give Absynth a 5 as it is mature but I can still think of things it needs. FM8 would be a 3. They've taken it beyond what a DX-7 could do, but it wouldn't hurt to maybe update the effects.

Rapture Pro would be an 8 as they made the interface too awkward for development. Most people I know who create patches for that do most of the hard work in the original Rapture because the interface is cleaner.

Z3ta 2 I might give a 4 or 5 to.

I just have freeware vst. I like what nutrino sky did for synth1. I wish that for vsts that have so many 3rd party presets they would update it to have a built-in preset manager in the style of neutrino sky's.

Any synth which does not support MPE cannot be better than 6...
Any synth that has only ADSR envelopes cannot be better than 5...
Any synth that does not allow preset morphing cannot be better than 4...
