It is actually a feedback simulator to generate feedback, as you can hear in the video below. "Fiend" can be understood as "Evil Spirit", but also "fanatic" or "enthusiast". It's also a play on words, because it sounds similar to "tinitus" in French
.

Nice, good to see a software solution.
The intro price is nice.
(I won't bite yet though. I'm sure I will, eventually, if I can.)
BTW, I own a Digitech frEQout pedal and like it (at the start of my pedal chain, I liked it much less otherwise).

That's indeed the best way to place a feedback simulator (just like in the real world: feedback is the action of the vibrations on the strings, so it happens at the beginning of the chain too).

Got it last night and it sounds really good.
If I had any criticism, it would be that it doesn’t really do out of control feedback - it’s more for controlled feedback.
Other than that, I know I’m going to use this a lot, as it’s really good!

I am not sure how you define "out of control feedback". It can sound pretty nasty too, with higher harmonics and additional transposition.

What I mean by out of control is when you stand really close to a loud amp and there’s almost nothing you can do to stop instant feedback that quickly shifts between harmonics as you move around. I found it easy to get feedback, but couldn’t get it to kick in without a fade up.

Have you tried to set the Fade In and Fade Out time to their minimum values?

That's already quite extreme!
It is indeed pretty hard to simulate such extreme conditions... In the case that you describe, the guitar will produce feedback even if you do not play it (the strings will start vibrating by themselves). So I guess you are stuck with using a speaker for such effects (even a small headphones speaker can do the trick if you place it close enough to the strings).

And you won't need iLok like Softube either as I understand from other Bluecat products I have.
But think pricetag on AcouFiend is in the Blue....i.e. regular price.....
