We indeed do not use iLok but a simple serial number system. What do you mean about the price?

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. Well, if you compare to the price of other plug-ins in general or the price of such a pedal, it is not expensive 
.
One thing that can only be done with a plug-in (and not with an amp or a pedal) is to add feedback after recording, as you can see in this review by RealHomeRecording:
