The one with Neutric connectors.

Post

Roland, 'cos they cost more.

Post

Monster Cable, because...um...err...um...more expensive...?

Post

I didn't think Monster made MIDI cables, so I googled and — sit down for this, it'll be a shock — they do, and they're not very expensive.

They're also out of stock at many sellers, so maybe it's a closeout price.

For that matter, I bought Roland cables recently 'cos the price was right. It was their budget line, though. The fancier ones cost an arm and a leg and I need those for playing keys and pedals.

Sorry, can you repeat that? I didn’t quite get it the first time - I thought you said...and you’re going to laugh at this...that they are not very expensive...

Post

I know, right? Coulda knocked me over with a feather.

I cant find a monster midi cable for less than £25 in the UK ... that's expensive IMHO. I usually spend less than £10 ...

Post

Nothing that cheap, not that I've seen — not counting reverb.com, anyway. But cheaper than the Roland MIDI cables I noticed earlier. And way cheaper than I expected from Monster. I guess the wire isn't time-aligned or whatever their buzzword is/was (arrows printed on the jacket so you wouldn't switch the IN end for the OUT one and confuse the poor little electrons).

And the best prices I found all seemed to be at stores that were out of stock, so. *shrug* I guess they weren't making enough money on them and discontinued the line.

edit] Maybe that makes them… virtual? *ponder*

I bought the cheapest one on the wall from my local Sam Ash some weeks back, and I think it cost $9 and change for a 3 foot cable.

Post

Even that seems steep.

I have some decent ones with metal connectors, and some very old ones from back when PCs were the color of putty and so were the cables. The latter are crummy, the former quite good. Also bought a bunch of Neutrik connectors so I can cut up the longer cables and make shorter ones.

Post

I think the cheapest ones I ever got were from a Radio Shack store, and I think I still have one in use. Probably about 15 years ago, and around $3 maybe?

Post

Memmmm-'ries… of the cables we once bought…

Post

Sounds like something you can hum to...

Post

I can't but someone else might. Change a few words around, a few margaritas in the right company, and it could be commercial.
