OSX updates regularly break compatibility with DAW and plugin features.
What DAWs have a very stable Mac version, as both app and host? :ud:

Logic?

Cubase should be fine as well.

OP which Mac DAW are you struggling with?

I use Logic and Live and don't have any problems in that regard as I only update OS when I - and the apps I use - are ready.

I use Studio One on OS X, had zero issues since purchase, it’s rock solid!

It’s not a problem of Logic which is quite stable and reliable. It’s a problem of updating OSX too early. I‘m still using Mojave (and will for the time being) and have had no problems during the last years.

Bug-free? :scared:

Consider Logic, perhaps.

Stability-wise: While I'm no power-user, I've never really had any issues. And I've been with the DAW from Version 7 (on 10.4 Tiger) through all iterations (And all OS', save for El Capitan), until now with LPX 10.4, on Mojave.

It's hard to bet against Logic being OS-compliant, given that Apple can mitigate against many issues by developing the two, concurrently.

I doubt that the Behringer DAW will be better than Logic

No DAW, as far as I've read, is completely bug free. I use Logic, it has some issues, but no dealbreakers for me. It's also the best value on the market, provided you accept the Apple M.O. I am still on mojave, and I don't expect to go any further on this iMac (late 2015).

Wise guy :hihi: That's perhaps the most important detail: always avoid the latest OS, and you will be much safer.

I only updated to Mojave when Catalina was released.

On Mac, for the most part, you really have to avoid upgrading too soon. I have tried REAPER, Ableton Live, and Studio One. All of them "had problems" if you updated to Mojave on day one. Mainly because the 3rd party plugins "had problems" which could usually cause problems downstream for the host.

FMR said he did Mojave when Catalina was released- that actually sounds like a solid pace to me. Which is the nice part about Macs. Their inherent security advantage generally means running a version a few points behind won't leave you critically exposed to viruses etc.

Logic and Reason have been solid for me over 2 MacOS updates on my current MacBook. Ableton Live has had a couple of crashes, but it’s been the same beta plugin each time, so I no longer use it.

*Edit* On Catalina since a week or so after its release

That's how I've always done it i.e update to the outgoing OS when the new is released. Never had any problems.

Also, perhaps the op might check out how Bitwig is doing with MacOS. I think it's experimental and flexible, sound-design(y) nature might work better for him.
