This is actually my main concern - it might not be big enough to survive... Unless Behringer buys Bitwig and builds theirs on that foundation

Other than the "tribe" in the name, which might suggest some sort of on-line collaboration features, I found very curious the "connections to 3rd party VSTs" bit. Why would they write it like that? Perhaps one will have to pay for some VST adapter, or otherwise be limited to native - free and paid? - instruments & fx?

I wonder if the logo will be like half-way between a windmill and a windowsill to represent it being revolutionary, powerful and transparent sounding.

Ok, I'm closing this one down. We already had a "funny" discussion about possible name last year and I was hoping for a more serious one this time...

Behringer has announced via its Facebook page that Music Tribe has begun the development process for a new, free DAW.
Music Tribe is the parent company for Behringer, TC Electronic and Klark Teknik, among other music-related brands. The Facebook post reads:
“It’s now official. We will be creating our own Music Tribe DAW.
This is a massive undertaking, which will take at least 18 months and for that purpose we have now assembled a large development team.
Our Music Tribe DAW will also include samples and VST’s plus connections to third party VST’s. Our goal is to include the very best features available, including multiple user interfaces for both recording and DJ.
We would love to develop this together with you and hence encourage you to share your preferred platforms and features so we can consider your input. Our opportunity is that we have no legacy platform to maintain, which will allow us to think “blue sky” and combine the “best of all worlds”.

Best of all, the DAW will be FREE of charge!
As always thank you so much for all your support and loyalty”.
Prior to that, Music Tribe unveiled its new online market place, Free Music Tribe, where customers can trade, buy and sell music gear without requesting a listing fee, putting it up against Reverb.com. This isn’t the first time the company has mentioned its interest in creating a DAW, often taking to Facebook to ask for users’ opinions.

It's not the quality of audio, it's the quality of production that matters.
