This has to be good news.................................For hardware manufacturers.

Plenty of cheap hardware synths out there now at very reasonable prices.

Just yesterday I asked the better half if I could buy a new Behringer Deepmind 12, and she said yes, as long as I sold some stuff first.

So its NI Komplete 12 bye bye. I never use it anyway. NI will never get another penny from me.

Add to that one of the new romplers like Yamaha Modx and I am good to go.

IMO, this is a consequence of the use of Native Access. The listed products considered "Legacy" never appeared in Native Access - as they should.

Bandstand appears too, as the EWQLSO, but their authorization isn't managed by Native Access, AFAIK.

+1, I already migrated away, except for FM8, but I guess I could phase modulate that out over time.

I will no longer activate my credit card for any more NI products :tu:

The sword cuts both ways...

They lost me after Komplete 10 anyway, because their vision of the "future of sound" didn't line up with mine..

I thought that they were losing the plot and now I'm convinced of it....

I think that NI will look back and regret the day that they let the private equity company into their world

Guess it's time to sell all my NI stuff before they fall.. Glad I didn't buy Komplete Kontrol s49.

Wow, that's stupid.
I can partly understand the really old plugins, but sample libraries?
Like others said, time to re-evaluate NI.
I guess in the long run they will go Subscription like Adobe and keep you on the latest version all the time or kick you out.
Not my tribe.
Thankfully I don't really use much or their stuff other than Kontakt libraries.
They lost their mojo for me anyway over the last couple of years.

Cheers,

Tom

Like AnX said above, the writing was on the wall for a long time at NI that they would likely make some drastic cost-cutting decision or other. They got rid of stuff before (Kore), not unlikely they'd cull SW at some point too.

We should all email NI about our disagreement with this policy. Here is what I wrote to them:

English: "you have informed me that an activation of certain older/discontinued products will only be possible until 31 May 2020. This is completely unacceptable. Either allow activation beyond this period or provide product versions that do not require activation. I reserve the right to take legal action. Regardless of this: as a loyal customer for many years I am appalled by this customer-hostile activation policy, which will certainly have a strong negative impact on your future business success. In the future, people will think twice (or not at all) to buy a NI product!"

I agree AKJ, every person affected should contact support. Here's my question:
Hi, I have a license for East West Stormdrum 1, which is currently active via Native Access ( serial numbers supplied in support ticket ). However, I see you intend to remove my ability to activate this product from May this year. This means that when I next change computers, or upgrade mine, I will no longer use the product I paid for.

Under your EULA you state "3.2 Native Instruments grants Licensee the non-exclusive right without restrictions in time or place to use the Products." So your decision reads to me as you being in breach of your own EULA.

Could you explain to me, legally and ethically, why you have chosen to spend time and money actively withdrawing a product's authorisation and denying access to your customers' purchases? Further, can you explain how I can trust your company to continue to honour the licences for any of the many other products NI products I own?

Many thanks.

The best way for them to get the message is to not give them any more of your money !

That's the only language that the bean counters really understand
