Tagging samples exists in the current browser? Not sure which daw we're talking about, as Presonus Studio One v 4 latest version doesn't allow me to tag any of my samples,or folders of sounds.

Do you see the difference???THE INTRANCER wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:20 amTagging in what context ? It already exists with the browser. You have a list of tags you can click on to filter the results you want to find and you can tag instruments and effects so they are made favourites. When you ask for things, you need to be explicitly clear in what they are...Trancit wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 12:56 am He already did... he wants tagging and better search and everything else 3rd party sample browsers do...

Correct tagging samples and folders of sounds would be amazing, for example - kicks, snares, cymbals etc. The same case could be made for our instrument presets, there's not an elegant solution for this yet. For instruments and efx, one could argue that you could use the favorites system, but honestly I would prefer a much deeper option and solution.
See I mean no harm, I too wouldn't want an intrusive overly bloated browser, but one with workflow in mind to help the search process. thnx

Totally. Can't wait until they set this up.trusampler wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:04 pm Correct tagging samples and folders of sounds would be amazing, for example - kicks, snares, cymbals etc. The same case could be made for our instrument presets, there's not an elegant solution for this yet. Even though, technically, there is a way to do this by creating soundsets, but honestly that process is so convoluted that I never bother with it. I just want to right click a file in the browser and give it some tags. Until they do that, I won't really use the tag system.

If tagging of individual samples doesn't make it's way to individual samples in 5.0, there are alternate ways to create your own favourite system with Studio One. One I find most effective is to create a folder system with your favourite samples, placed into a folder, (although for me and having somewhere of around 60 Gigs of sample content I'm not stuck for choice)...for specific things like vocal samples and soundfonts of orchestral libraries. I simply create a Root Tab from the 'File' directory which is directly accessible from Studio One's main browser. If I wanted to create custom folder directories within, then I could do that too and copy what I wanted to the folders created. If you have plenty of disk space to spare, then this could be an option, if not....trusampler wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:04 pm Correct tagging samples and folders of sounds would be amazing, for example - kicks, snares, cymbals etc. The same case could be made for our instrument presets, there's not an elegant solution for this yet. The alternate approach would be to use Studio One's Sample One XT, Impact XT or Presence XT, and Alt select and drag across the audio based content to these instruments, and save them all as a preset, which you can then save as a favourite which you can easily recall. In both cases you would naturally audition them by whatever method you prefer, inside or outside Studio One with compatible software.
I knew what you were referring to with Studio One's tagging btw, but wanted you to be specific because my follow up question was going to be whether you have actually requested sample tagging on the Presonus Answers page and as Presonus employees may be reading this thread..like Gregor for example, and as not everyone here uses Studio One to know what kind of tagging you meant.
The browser in Studio One seems to be a key central object of focus with each update, so tagging of sample content in this case is of high probability I'd imagine. For me, I tend to use the standard sound content provided by the instruments in Studio One, and almost always change the sound of them anyway by the use of adjusting parameters or adding effects.
Earlier today I added a screen grab to the 'Hidden Areas Of Studio One' image, that relate to the tab and folder creation options as a point of reference on page 1.

Right on,yes my folders are very organized, though I have around 1 terabyte of samples in different folders and categories for vox, efx, drums, chopped samples, perc, everything broken down on larger scale level, yet to actually tag these, it's not been possible inside s1 yet.
Tagging requests have been made on the Presonus answers page,so I've supported the already made requests, no sense in creating more.Though some of us sample chopping / editing guys don't always get the support as the trendy cool major features may get, this is a problem, yet we make it through.
Alike you, I've been saving favorite instruments as well for years in S1,but I'll have to check out the ALT+DRAG method.
Still tagging our sounds should be high on the feature request list, as it just creates a better workflow when searching for our creative tools.

Again a simple question:
Even if you would find it more easy to work with if S1´s browser would support this directly but why do you want to wait perhaps 2 or 3 years until they implement something like this (if ever) all the time missing it and whining about it when it´s all already there... for free...
ADSR has a very nice free sample browser which works directly as a instrument plugin... drag n drop from the sample browser works flawless in S1...
The free Loupcloud app is a second great alternative while I prefer the ADSR one...
Both of them have hundreds of useful features for tagging and searching S1´s browser will never have...
Second: It´s much much more safe to rely with something like this on a more "universal" useable app than doing it all DAW dependent...
Sample tagging is a very hard, nerving and time consuming job... what if you leave S1... what if you need something like this in a second DAW for some reason...

I never touched sample tagging in my life and will never do...
I honestly get panic if I even think about trying to figure out tags that could work for me... meaning I would be able to memorize in a useful sense...
Not to speak about the month over month of nerving nitpicky work to tag a bigger sample library...
You speak about a sample library more than one terabyte...
I hope you´ve got nothing else to do for the next few years!!!
Perhaps you are hoping about something automatically... forget it... it get´s the job done for perhaps 10% of what you would need to make really use out of a tagging system as this mostly rely on file names and perhaps a bit of meta data...
It´s a wet dream for some but in reality as long as it isn´t directly supported and implemented in the sample library itself (which is valid for a very very little amount) it´s useless as it would afford more manual work to tag everything as it would be for manual searching samples for the rest of your life...

I don't... would be easyTrancit wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:05 am I honestly get panic if I even think about trying to figure out tags that could work
Even just access to the "Instrument" and "Character" tags included with the Loops browser would be fine
Piano, Organ, Keyboard, Synth, Bass, Guitar, Brass, Strings, Woodwinds, Bells, Mallets, Percussion, Drums, Vocal, Effects, Multi, Pads, Atmo, acoustic, electric, electronic, dry, wet, clean, distorted, percussive, soft, vintage, modern, dark, bright, solo, ensemble, static, animated, slow, fast, one-shot, loop, mono, poly, analog, digital, aggressive, full, fill, riser, fall, riff, processed, Construction Kit
I just made a sub bass sound that I would love to click "Bass, electronic, distorted, modern, digital, full" and bam, can name it "Sorta Gritty" instead of ghetto tagging it by naming it "BS SUB SYN Sorta Gritty"

@ Trancit, I personally use Resonic Pro for 3rd party options,I've tried loopmasters, adsr apps, but I'd like my daws browser to allow me to tag my samples, if that makes sense. If it's OK with you, I'd like to have my own requests.
If you've never touched sample tagging in your life, cool great for you. Some of use need and want it though, so you can hate all on the feature request, it still won't make me want it any less.

So now I'm getting stuck notes trying to play my xoxbox and Neutron despite them working fine yesterday, I can play notes on my T6 and the synths play fine, if I click a note within the piano roll the midi gets stuck and I have to use reconnect to get it to stop

Try not holding down the keys when switching to another instrument. I noticed that when using U-HE's Hive that if the arp button is enabled and I attempt to switch to another instrument, I find that the keys in which I've held down on my midi controller when I've switched to another instrument results in stuck notes. Hopefully this will be addressed with a note off message which Studio One can send to the instruments when switching between instruments, by the time 5.0 comes out.Digivolt wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:42 pm So now I'm getting stuck notes trying to play my xoxbox and Neutron despite them working fine yesterday, I can play notes on my T6 and the synths play fine, if I click a note within the piano roll the midi gets stuck and I have to use reconnect to get it to stop
If you can, post it on the presonus support forum, or post it on their social media pages with the steps to reproduce.
