Buckster wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:36 am big thank you to John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl and Shane Dunne for making such a fun and creative musical "instrument" for us to use - its like having the perfect "workstation" at your fingertips

played with Unify for a few hours tonight - the idea for this track came from browsing the presets and coming across a fantastic lead with Unify

The Latches etc are so fantastic for playing "live" - all played live on this track except for the Piano which I had to play over-layed (not enough hands). When I have time want to tweak the Portomento slightly down as a bit OTT

Lead - from Unify - in Unify instance 1
Pads - Pigments 2 - In Unify instance 1
Bassline - Vengeance - in Unify instance 2
Piano - Pianoteq 6

Effects - Blackhole, Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor Class A (used in Unify)

Nice work !

For example: When I play C1, it will add an C2 automatically?
Great idea. I just added this to our built-in MIDI Filter. And instead of just one extra note, you can have up to 3! Look for this new feature in our next FREE update, coming (probably) this week.

Another small musical example, Synth Motions Vol.1 and our upcoming drum edition with version 1.10 of Unify...

Great work on those new midi fx Shane! The power of Unify is growing fast, and it's exciting to be on board at the ground floor.

Is the midi sequencer itself midi triggerable? ie so I could use keyboard splits to retrigger the midi file, or jump into the sequence at certain points etc.

Also, this new sequencer looks like a perfect solution to set up a sequence of keyswitches for audio fx that support keyswitching (e.g. Stutter edit and Glitch 2) only if/when Unify allows audio fx to access their own midi layer.

minor issues with patches:
"BPM PAD - Chord Dance 1" - clicking sound on attack on higher velocities.
"BASS - 48db DEEEEP Pop" - clicking sound on release, fixable by adjusting amp release little longer.
Main Computer Specs: MacBook M1 Max, 32GB, 4TB, Cubase 13.

John and I are talking about MIDI triggering. We likely won't have it for the first release, but we're definitely thinking of exactly what you suggest.

I'm not sure quite what you mean about "keyswitching". Can you explain with an example or two?

An example is Glitch 2, it's an audio effect that lets you create a lot of different glitch patterns, and the way you switch between patterns is by midi notes ie C-2 will be your first pattern, C#-2 your second. And so on. Currently Glitch is receiving the same notes as the instrument it is attached to, so patterns are changing along with every note received.

Not sure of the config for Glitch 2 above but impression:
Same situation w/ImageLine Gross Beat. First solution - I need some way to feed separate midi stream into the effects section of an instrument track. Beyond that - perhaps - to an effects plug in the Master Effects section.

Just starting, and not far into the manual, so I dunno :scared: :clown:

Yup same situation I'd guess. Same story with mrythmizer and stutter edit also.

Little further into the manual, perhaps this is midi input for Aux Effect lanes rather than Master :?
(with inst 100% to Aux lane...)

I still haven’t figured out what this does that hasn’t been done for a decade in a daw, and many decades before on tape.

It provides a workflow that is heavily optimized for using and creating multi-instrument patches. There is little that you can do in Unify that you can't do in a modern DAW, but if you want to say, move layered patches between DAWs, or if you want to create such patches or have a large collection of them that you want to use in several different projects and need to manage and browse easily, it makes it signifcantly easier. Also, if you are someone who buys (or makes) preset packs, it provides a framework where more complex presets can easily be created and distributed. If none of this sounds like something you would do, it is probably of less value for you.

Cool that worked :)
On the instrument layer itself I've just filtered out notes below C0, which means any audio fx sitting on the aux bus is free to receive keyswitches from C-2 to B-1.

Maybe you can contact Matt Tytel about including his upcoming Vital wavetable synth in Unify?
