Same here! Have a late 2013 imac. Avenger is working great since the beginning and the CPU consumption is OK. CM was a good decision by Vengeance in my opinion. At the beginning it was a bit confusing (not for me), but still it was easy to install. They had a description for that, which was easy to understand. Now with the VMAN it's a child's play.
I've said that before: Vengeance doesn't do this to annoy someone, when it comes to choosing copy protection. Even Vengeance had to deal with the whole crack shit when it happend and after that, they carefully considered what was best for the customer. Yes, they really do! I no longer list the reasons for this. It has been said a thousand times and I'm honestly getting tired of this grumbling thing here. It makes it appear in the forum that CM is the biggest crap and doesn't work for anyone or that the user have to interact constantly with pressing several buttons. All I press here are my keys on the keyboard to make music. Music! Yes, this was originally the subject of this thread. The fact is that 99% of the users are satisfied with CM and everything runs well with them. If something doesn't work properly, please contact Rene about anything. He is the man who cares about every technical stuff.
I also don't think it is appropriate, to talk so badly about Vengeance. Look what a great synth these guys have made which I use every day! They do an excellent job and I know that, because I know them. Peace!

Yes, of course, all of the people who don't have any problems are VS employees. Didn't you know that VS is a Fortune 500 company with close to 100.000 employees?

I agree and I am not on the payroll of Vengence but we are, shall we say, friends. And, as a friend, I don't mind if they have put a better lock on the front door, despite the possible slight inconvenience that may result.hvyen wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:57 pm Avenger is working great since the beginning...

...you mean that's not what actually happened?Magnut wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 6:11 pm If I'd be a bad guy I could say it was to lure customers into buying with this so user friendly cp, knowing the product would not have had that impact with cm. And then switching to cm without a proper finished system for users is yet another thing.

well now I see you didn't use ilok because it was too pricey. I would of gladly paid for an update that includes it but I can understand not everyone would be willing to do that.
So let me get this straight? The thing will stop working 90 days after I authorized it? Then what do I do? I am a little confused.
Oh also if I reinstall windows do I have to deactivate it beforehand? Like if I forgot would I lose my license? This is why I like ilok on a dongle because I never worry.

Well, it IS confusing. Here's as brief a summary as I can make:ATS wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:55 am well now I see you didn't use ilok because it was too pricey. I would of gladly paid for an update that includes it but I can understand not everyone would be willing to do that.

Method 1 is going via the Register VPS website, you can manage your activations. You can de-activate (so don't need to do this before switching computers). You also re-host, which is one method of continuing the license once the 90 day period is up. Its pain to do this manually but its not too difficult or time-consuming a process.
Method 2 is to use VMAN, a new app / process which makes all things simpler and more elegant. Here you can continue the 90 day period in a single click. You may also be able to de-authorize your computer, I don't know as I don't yet have it installed. Some users have had their copies of Avenger borked as a result of VMAN, and neither they nor anyone from Vengeance have actually commented here to say if these problems have been resolved. Until this is done, I'm avoiding using VMAN which means not installing the latest update.
Manuel from Vengeance has said that they're moving to a rolling no-click activation process, where it becomes a background activity with no user input. I believe the idea is for VMAN to do a check when launched (as part of the startup routine possibly?) to check in with the server, and if it finds it to extend the period by another 90 days, therefore always giving a long buffer to counter any downtime.
So it's not simple, it is fluid, right now some of it is not confidence-inspiring, but once all the bumps are ironed out I'll be perfectly ok with it.

To the Hardware Dongle fans and Vengeance!
The problem with hardware dongles is, that especially laptops don't have much direct USB connections! It would be possible to use USB Hubs, but intependently if you use an active or passive Hub, many USB hardware still doesn't work really good on them, and I tried many of them! My masterkey for example is making problems with USB hubs, my DAW controller works, but not really stable, sometimes it loses connection ...
My current music laptop has 3 direct USB connections and my older has 4. I need 1 for my masterkey, 1 for the Nexus Dongle and one for mouse and keyboard together. If I want to use my external hardware drive, I have to disconnect something.
And I'm using laptops, because I must be mobile with my setup!
So, I will never buy and use software in the future again, which needs a hardware dongle! I have to upgrade Nexus 2 to Nexus 3, only because then I would get 1 free USB port back on my laptop and for that I have to pay much money for that upgrade, because it seems that Nexus 2 won't get that new copy protection like Nexus 3 has!? And at the moment I'm thinkin about if I uninstall it and spent the money for the upgrade to another synths.
I know refx has nothing to do with Vengeance, it's only an example!
But if Vengeance and other companies would switch to a hardware dongle in the future, I won't use them anymore. And that's the reason, I still didn't bought expansions for Avenger, because nobody knows, what they will do in the future again. And therefore I still don't use Avenger in my tracks, too.
Since last Black Friday till now, I bought samples and expansions for my VSTs for way more than 1.000 Euros. But for Vengeance I still bought nothing, because I don't know, what they'll do in the future with Avenger! So, if they don't want my money, they can continue their strategy! I have Dune, Rapid, Serum, Sylenth ... ,too.

I have to say I am working with zero problems. I have my license on a Dongle my PC is offline and for the licence renewal I plug it on my MacBook and that's it. Ok it would be nice for "auto" renewal but I don't care. With the Dongle I can be portable with moving the Dongle and I don't risk to loose my licence because of computer hardware failure except the Dongle itself.

I got an around 2 years (or a bit more) old HP Omen notebook which has 3 full size USB ports (USB-A) and 1 USB-C port.clipnotic wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:13 am To the Hardware Dongle fans and Vengeance!![]()

To this USB-C port i got a hub with 4 USB 3.0 ports connected where my iLok 2 and eLicenser dongles are connected. So far i did not notice a single problem with this after more around 2 years of using it that way.
This is the USB-C to USB-A hub i am currently using:

Besides that i also got an older USb 2.0 hub connected (with a decicated power supply) where i got e.g. a mouse, an external keyioard a printer and a MIDi controller connected.

Don't worry, I have bought 8 5-packs of Avenger expansions to a price of just over $1100. while already owning Dune 3, Rapid, Serum, Sylenth1 and many more. I think Vengeance Sound will surviveclipnotic wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:13 am Since last Black Friday till now, I bought samples and expansions for my VSTs for way more than 1.000 Euros. You surely have statistic data available to back up your claim, or ...hvyen wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:57 pm The fact is that 99% of the users are satisfied with CM and everything runs well with them.
And it is not just about the kind of dongle, but the actual implementation and the mentality of the company.

Years ago, I found USB hubs (preferably powered ones) a necessity for my laptops, and none of my dongles ever complained. Due to the convenience of putting a hub pretty much wherever I wanted to, I even started using them with desktops that had plenty of USB ports.Ingonator wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:43 amI got an around 2 years (or a bit more) old HP Omen notebook which has 3 full size USB ports (USB-A) and 1 USB-C port.clipnotic wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:13 am To the Hardware Dongle fans and Vengeance!![]()
