Dears,

I do hope I'm posting in the right forum :) I just want to share my latest experience with ebay.co.uk and paypal.
Note. I'm not native English speaker :)
Intro. I'm an ebayer with 10+ (15+?) years of experience. +/-450-500 100% positive feedbacks.
The story. Sold my Moog Sub37 to the one English guy. Got immediate payment from him alltogether with paypal fee around 38 GBP. On the next day he did ask,- could be a problem for you to ship to the different address. My answer was,- no problem as soon as it's registered ppl address. The answer - well, I did change the address, don't know why it's not on your side...etc (all our conversation through ebay).
My proposal was - I'll make 100% refund, relist the tem and you'll gonna to buy again.
Deal.
To may big surprise paypal didn't refund me my 38 gbp!!! Now I know rules did change, but it's just ridiculous. I wrote to paypal, but all I got back "blah blah, starting from january 2020"..

And keeping in mind written all above, I've (and probably all ebay members) got an email from paypal regarding covid-19. "Recommended measures to aid business continuity". One of clauses: "Offer refunds proactively if you are no longer able to..." blah blah.

Yes, motfickers, you'll get your money in any case.

Sorry for the rant,
o.

I haven't had troubles with PayPal per se, but as for E-bay... f**k 'em. I used to do high-volume sales on high-dollar items on there (I've probably sold around $10-15k in the past few years). Then I found out 2 things:

1) As a seller, it is impossible to leave negative feedback for buyers. WTF? How is this a valid feedback system?

2) As a seller, you can stipulate whether you accept returns. HOWEVER, if a buyer wants to return an item, they can do so REGARDLESS of your returns policy, and E-bay will force you to accept it.

So, again... f**k 'em. I've found selling on Facebook groups much friendlier and you get to keep all your money, have more control over who you sell to, have meaningful personal refs/feedback, etc.

Completely agree. My SUB37 was my last item on ebay. Ebay socks nowdays for audio gear (and for others too) sellers. Fees is just cosmos. Do remember the days (many years ago), when you did a search "clavia" and got 68 clavias to choose from. Now only 2 German dudes.

Yeah, f**k 'em.

I use eBay classifieds. Free, and mostly hassle free, lowballers and the occasional scammer notwithstanding. I found that just being patient gets my stuff sold, and it's all done within the EU via bank transfer. We don't go near online banking in any form.
