Nice. I missed them first time round, but got to see them at York Fibbers on the tour they did to promote "Why Call It Anything?" and they were excellent.

I'd love to see them. I saw Skids at Holmfirth in 2017 and it was an amazing experience. Did anyone go? How was it?

Made it down to York, good gig. Mark's glasses flew off into the audience at one point and he changed the words of one of the songs to 'the Chancellor is a twat'. Everyone started singing when they played Second Skin.

We were the support act. If the soundcheck was anything to go by it was great, but we had to load out and go as soon as we'd finished (there is no space backstage at the Picturedrome for that amount of gear...). Mark is a gent.BONES wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2020 4:23 am I'd love to see them. I saw Skids at Holmfirth in 2017 and it was an amazing experience. Did anyone go? How was it?

Sorry, I think I was at the pub over the road while you guys played. I'd flown from Sydney to Berlin two days before, after a horror trip that took almost two full days, then I had to jump on another plane at 5am, after about four hours sleep, to get to Manchester, from where I hired a car to get to Holmfirth. I wasn't in the best of shape when I got there but meeting Richard Jobson and hanging out with Cunto, their front-of-house guy, made it a great experience. I was too tired to go down the front so I stood up by the FoH desk, where I could see and get good sound. If our flights had gone to plan, it would have been much better but I made the most of it. We'd also planned to see Shreikback the night before but they cancelled.

Shreikback are still going? Used to love them - still have their oil and gold as a regular CD in the car (no interwebs or bluetooth in my car - haven't joined this millenium quite yet
). Some of the Shreikback stuff is quite unique - I always thought very musical and quite grown up, but also music to slash your wrist to. That one they do with the little drum paradiddle thing going on in the background...just love it.
Saw the Chameleons a few times back in the day - I think twice in MCR and once in Sheffield, and despite never really being into guitars that much, I always loved how the Chameleons made such a wall of sound with theirs. Way better than New Order and all the other trendy shite at the time around those parts. Chameleons are one of the few bands I can really wail along to in the car. Sing like nobody's listening - they wouldn't want to if they heard me.

This would be a really good time to reissue Soul in Isolation if only they had a mind to now

Not only are they still going but they still release new albums on a regular basis. Their latest, released a few months ago, is really good and harks back to the Oil & Gold days in places. Have a listen, I bet you decide to buy it before you get to the end of the first song - https://shriekback.com/storekritikon wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 11:23 amShreikback are still going? The silly old buggers even did a video for one of the songs -

Sounds like the itinerary from hell. You didn't miss us though, we were support for Chameleons in Feb this year (our debut gig!) not The Skids - sorry, my post was a little ambiguousBONES wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 12:39 am Sorry, I think I was at the pub over the road while you guys played.
