I watched it, and thought it was honestly sad. I would think she could sing at least a little to get a record contract. It took me a minute to even figure out that's what happened, because the guitarists (god bless 'em) smiled and kept on playing. She got all scared and left the stage....might have been confusion of what now to do though. I also want to state I loathe pop music. It really was sad to watch her get 'busted' in front of america. (provided people like me still watch SNL

It goes something like this...
Label: "Ok...so for the live show we are going to be using some pre-recorded (perfectly tuned) vox tracks to add a wee bit of smash to your vocal."
Artist: "Gee...isn't that kind of cheating?"
Label: "Look honey, you know the old saying...you can fool some of the people all of the time...and all of the people some of the time... well, we only want to fool most of the people long enough to make some bleeding money for both of us...that OK by you?
Artist: "............."
There will always be a huge market for illusions as long as people bow down and worship entertainment.

I have no problem with pop singers lip-syncing. Hell, it usually beats hearing them trying and failing to hit the notes. Robbie Williams, anyone? Or how about some Avril Lavigne?
When it comes to pop music on tv, I only watch the women. And I only watch.

Yeah, but the embarassing part for you was that your songs have no lyrics!

And it can amount to the same thing here as well. Just how much *is* real...and how much is augmented for effect.pough wrote:When it comes to pop music on tv, I only watch the women. And I only watch.
It's entertainment after all. We wouldn't want things appearing too normal. Nobody is buying that these days. Ever seen a normally proportioned Barbie?
