Well, it works here and on many other W10 computers. It is not officially supported by NI because Kore got discontinued before W10, but it does work on it. Just like many other things that worked on W7 work just fine in W10...

As I said, I vaguely remember running the installer in W7 compatibility mode and it just worked, Kore 2 driver and all.

Dear all,

also have to post here how I angry I am on NI.
Either release a last version without the need to be activated or keep a simple cloud machine working for activation.
I am heavily invested in NI, now they don't get any more money from me.
I fear that this will also happen to my current versions.

As long as companies behave like this think twice before you buy something that has to be activated.
For me this did not happen for the first time.
NI: Either change your behaviour or I am out.

Regards, T.

East West ceased to be NI customer a long time ago  They have their own player now.

Garritan too (now works with Aria Player, which is based in the Plogue engine).

How dare they...
what scandalous mischievous company would discontinue a product from 2003...

OMG..Absynth 2 that's ermmm

16/17 years (depending upon month).

Well researched my friend...

but I am sure there are more discontinued products..

I have a Pifco massager from about 1973...

you know what.
It's been discontinued...
:(

Post

Who wants all those old sounds anyway?

:P

But I am sure that the main difference between that Pifco massager and these NI products is in the implied warranty and the licensing agreement...

NI stated quite clearly in the EULA,that they would guarantee the end user continued access to the product in the event of NI not being able to maintain it...

That's the rather small clause that is stopping NI in their tracks here...

Small,but rather consequential...

The language that dictates the true extent of any legal agreement can be rather powerful and quite interesting

Not really. It's whataboutism and straw man when you have an admitted bias.

We are talking about NI abandoning older software authorizations here, it's a slash and burn policy, regardless of the reasons. This is of course an Apple issue as well, regardless of their reasons (and they surprise surprise! often use 'security' as a reason for it ), regardless of NI's reasons it's classic straw man. Kore working on Windows has little to do with a policy NI seem to have of abandoning software that isn't making them money. It doesn't matter if it's a "fact" the point is to paint NI as just like the rest, and push blame to Apple. Soviet era whataboutism coupled with straw man.

You're smarter than this level of blame shifting.

Except nobody complained about anything being "discontinued". The complaint was there's no way to activate what you paid for. It's purely about the copy protection, and using things independent of NI's online servers. That's a very different thing.

Also, FYI, that software may be old, but much of it still works just fine - right up until the very latest Windows 10. Oh, and news flash - much of it can even be made to work on Mac OS right up until before they moved to Catalina. (My experiences of running old NI software is actually BETTER on the Mac side than Windows, due to how crappy most Bit Bridges are!)

So, even though it may be "old", its completely viable both on the latest operating systems and DAW software. Some of it is unique. Some of it you might not see any reason to use, but that doesn't mean there aren't valid reasons for many people..

On the NI forum they have said they have heard all the feedback and are looking into a different way to do this. That's got to be a positive??

In terms of a customer friendly response, yes. The question is WHY you think NI had a change of heart..

1) Out of the goodness of their heart because, after reading all of your wonderful feedback, they understand they were wrong..
2) Because different versions of their EULA made specific legal commitments NOT to do this exact thing, thereby placing them in a position where they may be forced to reverse their actions by law.

The good news is nobody has to guess if it's 1 or 2. You will know it's number 2 if they fail to place the equivalent consumer protections back into their present EULA.

I doubt they care. They're likely getting ready to launch Native Cloud and move to a rental model anyway. Which, btw, I hope I'm wrong about.

Post

It would have to definitely be # 1

Their newer EULAs are a little less generous than the older ones,so they have nothing to worry about there...

Native Cloud :o
