Both Synthedit and Flowstone are being actively updated. As for Flowstone modules, they are a lot more than the current version SE, you just have to know where to look for them.

I see there is secret testing of 64 and a secret place for modules made in Ruby code? Not exactly what I call released but... How many of those modules work on mac?

There's no plan for Flowstone to export on mac. For me, it's not a contest of which is better. I'm just passing the information.Davidson A & M wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 9:06 pm I see there is secret testing of 64 and a secret place for modules made in Ruby code? I have been waiting for full release to try right now I am on MAX SE JUCE iplug2.. I don't really know Ruby just JS and a little C++. I tried demo of FS it didn't seem to respond as quickly as SE to midi in but workspace seemed more modernized. I would like to do a side by side compare of the same synth etc just to see. I don't think this is still on topic or is it. I will try again when 64 is fully out I guess.Thx SampSci

Well the Mac changes a lot Catalina is a challenge but SE works fine on it just can only do dmg or zip drag drop installers I can't get packages installer to work so far? Also is very difficult for MAX to pass all verification's etc. Windows offers a better price for performance and can still run 32 bit for the time being..

Do you mean in general? Depending on the field, it's not always worthwhile to release software on macOS. Video games is a good example where most gamers are on Windows and would never waste their time and money on a mac desktop. The value for money isn't there and video games require as much power as possible.overhishead wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 9:30 pm why don't more people develop software for Apple? is Windows just low hanging fruit?
But for music production, graphic design and even in education, Apple has enough weight to be worthwhile of the time of developers.
Still, on Windows you'll have more plugins available because of "save as" development software like SynthEdit and Flowstone which ease the development process by being visual programming environment. Even if SynthEdit can now export to mac, you'll see less releases for it even from SynthEdit power users like Elena Design:
http://www.vst4free.com/index.php?dev=Elena_Design
From what I know it's because there is less modules available for mac than windows in SynthEdit, but I could be wrong since the last time I looked was 1-2 years ago.
There's also Catalina which makes things much more difficult for anyone who wants to release plugins, no matter what software they use to create them. Expect less plugins on mac because of this, guaranteed!

SE works on Catalina there about 800+ possible modules for Mac ATM even Elena has modules for MAC. She doesn't have a MAC though Rob converted her stuff to MAC.. The SE community is great in this regard. Genesis Pro could have been done with Modern SE maybe it would need sems written to replace CK stuff.. Could maybe even ask Chris for source to try and make them up to date..

800+ is a lot! It's definitely more than what's available for Flowstone. That's good to know and it's proof that SE evolved a lot in the last 2 years. On KVR, SE has a bad reputation because it took too much time to update SE to 64-bit and eventually a lot of top SE devs left the platform to C++ or just stopped developing.Davidson A & M wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 10:54 pm SE works on Catalina there about 800+ possible modules for Mac ATM even Elena has modules for MAC. For PC way more like another 300 or 350 , new ones all the time. I know I really have seen a huge improvement to SE last I was using it was 2012 picked back up about a year a go very nice also 1.5 is coming out sometime soon. Now many advancements like zooming workspace etc.. Also new AZURE pipeline for converting PC sems to MAC if you don't have Mac.

As we celebrate this thread arriving at page 100, let's do a small recap. Going back and reading the first pages now ( ) it was supposed to be the next best thing after sliced bread. Some good hype there. Of course, as usual, it turned out to be another epic and classic KVR thread full of disappointment, complaining and dev bashing. And still no 64bit.

I never said FlowStone 64 bit was released, I just said it exists and its not public yet. I have it and it works perfectly fine already but its constantly being improved upon. We dont know the release date, it will happen when it happens.

I still had my minihost by Tobybear so I got to hear Genesis without all of the Rice Krispies. Some really solid preset design. You can see how capable this is. The real pianos were just so surprisingly good considering what this thing is. Have a lot more work to do with it but nice to know I could play it live using minihost if I needed.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.
