I have updated the list

Thank you all for the info.

I'm of course not sure of some of the entries, so I depend on the members here to correct me. I also would appreciate it if an exact info (for example, serial or keyfile) are provided. Sometimes only specific products from this or that company use serial/keyfile. This should be mentioned as well.

Which product and version are you on? The FAQ claims no protection (though George may have forgotten to update it). I remember it did go to some activation method for a while – and charged for the update that implemented – but then switched it back again when the company came back out of hiatus.

Looking back through the manual for Discovery Pro, v6.5 added the License.dat file, v6.7 removed the need to use it.

Has it changed again?

Some Xils-Lab synths ( Oxium -motion analog-, Xils 3 LE = VCS3 Synthi, PolyKB Player (half customisable PolyKobol replica) and MiniSyn'X ( Elka Synthex emu) are Serial Protected only.

As is all their effect line ( Le Masque Delay -timeline-sequenced analog delay), Chor'X ( all in one Yam Cs80 + Roland VP 330/Dim-D + Synthex chorus), LX122 (Leslie) + RAMSES (Masks Sequencer driven analog filter + True Stereo + VCA unit)

For Waldorf, most of my plugs are Ilok. Some units are serial only iirc.

As I said in my post, it's not keyfile (even if the wording on their site might be interpreted that way); it's a proprietary serial number (weird signs) that has to be copied and pasted on the product.

Superwave Synths are serial coded protected still. They will be replacing my Ni Pro53 soon!!

I thought it was a keyfile because that's how I've got them stored: e@rs is right, it's a serial that's similar to the Fabfilter ones in that it's a big chunk of text.

If I'm reading that right, you can at least back up the installed files and use them transfer them to a different machine without a further activation stage. I'll have to try with Little Snitch enabled to see if it actually works. I wish DiscoDSP were a lot more transparent about this, because that is some way from the no-protection claimed on the website.
