I'd seen some Waves negativity but decided to get OVOX. It's been great for me. No problems at all - really enjoyable to use and if you spend some time with it, very capable to some great effects. I prefer to use it for subtle vocal effects but it can be used for many things.

that dirty hippie from the waves ovox ad is still popping up on youtube. will it ever end?
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Ploki wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2020 3:01 pm well i've finally tried it. it's not smoother than vocalsynth and has the same artefacts.
the arp can be easily done with vocal synth and external ARP effect.
So i stand by my additional comment: it's a copy, it's not revolutionary and it's not a game-changer.
Try feeding it talent and creativity.

And you try feeding that snarky bullshit to someone else!
Nothing in the video can't be done with Vocalsynth, and i bet she could knock one out with it as well.

I’m stoked about the midi out. Can the formant, amp envelope and pitch be transmitted as ccs? If so then this just boned the guy with that Kickstarter plugin that is never getting finished.

It’s damn close. The plugin reports 0 samples of latency at most sample rates.Sciurus wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2020 3:12 am Wait, is this zero(ish) latency midi out? Not that I actually have any use for that, but it would be fun to play with.

I dunno. Ovox can do some pretty neat stuff with an insane variety or inputs. I played with vocal synth a bit and on top of not finding it super great sounding form many of its intended uses (liked the talk box mode, but the vocoder was kinda weak), I also found it to be a bit of a heavy resource user.
Ovox can do synth sounds that are hard to achieve with full on synthesizers, and that before you start modulating them with your voice. The note mapper is a bit gimmicky, but for that type of harmonizing, it makes it insanely easy. If you have talented vocalists to work with, you can do some absolutely amazing things. Even with my meager ability and a simple sm58, I have made some seriously neat sounding things.
Now that it has midi out (even if it doesn’t support ccs and or pitchbend) it will make quite a few things much simpler that used to be time consuming.
It’s definitely worth grabbing on a sale.
