Hi everyone

I'm a developer focusing on MIDI and currently have a new MIDI Arp / Seq being developed.

I'd be interested to hear your ideas on other MIDI based products you'd like to have, something that is missing in the marketplace ... or that could be improved up on, both in terms of capability and design ease of use.

Looking forward to reading about your idea....

Hi David,

Something I'v been looking for since a while is a midi multi stage envelope generator (MSEG à la Zebra) that would respond to velocity (globally or point dependent - modulating the amplitude/time between to point).
With one shot or looping options (selectable point looping), time based or tempo sync-able.
Also, CCs could modulate, e.g., time value (1/4 - 1/8 - 1/16 - triplet/even).
This could be interesting for rhythm based material.

Post

Could you explain with an example or 2?

I'd suggest to have a look at Zebra's MSEG first.
But instead of controlling the amount of, e.g., amplitude/filter cutoff/wavetable position... (synth parameters),
it would control/modulate the value of any midi continuous controller value (Pitch Bend, CC1, CC2, etc.).
Hope it helps.

I like reasonably clear simple interfaces
I would like a sequencer or arp that allowed me to position the rhythm/timing along a line rather than according to rigid divisions like 1/8 etc. Think in terms of a delay line with multiple taps like Late Replies - the taps can be at any point, either along grid divisions like normal or time based in terms of msecs. For a sequencer example this might mean I could have notes placed along a line at 120msecs., 145msec, 390 msec etc
And I'd like this for multiple note lanes. And I like to be able to have probability settings for the notes to be triggered. But mainly to be able to set a duration and then position any number of note triggers at any points along a line representing that duration
Also..
I like codeFN42's randARP a lot, but it is a bit buggy in Reaper, so a 100% stable version of something along those lines would be brilliant

doesn't something like Cableguys midishaper or the amazing Melda MCCGenerator do this?

Yes, its close (I own midishaper).
I really messed with it to achieve what I was looking for, but for me, it didn't make it.
Another thing I'v been looking for is a good AU midi effect velocity re mapper with deeply editable curve, min/max value and the like.
I understand that all this would probably be too specific/narrow to most people, but well, we'v been asked...

That said, I'd be really interesting by you'r Arp - Sequencer suggestion!

I would like to request that the midi plugin be multi-touch capable and friendly.

Looking forward to the release of your MIDI Arp/Seq plugin.

The design for and Arp / Seq is already completed and in development ... but I think you'll be suitably impressed

If the Sequencer part as more then one track/lane playable simultaneously.
Would it be possible to have each track/lane (with different length/meter(1/4, 1/4tr, 1/8 etc.)) being triggered independently with the key of your choice?

MIDI Velocity Curve generator for Logic Pro X's Scripter

Post

Thanks @Etienne1973.
I was ok using Logic's Velocity Processor.
This generator could be handy of course.
But in fact, I'm looking for one I could use "outside" Logic, hence the reason for asking.
This generator with his graphic coupled with Logic's Velocity Processor parameters as AU midi effect would be awesome.

The Melda one is much better again, but that might be windows only

Well, this is exciting news, can't wait to see your Arp/Seq, David, and to hear you're going to continue:)

I'm finally starting to explore the bazillion MIDI devices available in Live from the M4L folks, along with keeping a close watch on what the guys behind pluginguru's Unify plugin are doing right now with MIDI, so I'm not personally feeling any particular gaps ATM, more overwhelmed with cool existing options, actually. But it's clear from the new Unify tools that there's plenty of new things MIDI can be asked to do, and I'd certainly suggest to keep an eye on those guys, too, if you're not already.
